Carrie's
What a long day today. I threw myself on the bed and my long brown mane spread out all over my face. The bed never felt so comfortable. Being the lazy ass I was, I couldn't bear to budge and go take a shower.
But, Mom would kill me.
I grabbed my towel and unlatched my watch. That was when I realized.
"My bracelet! Its gone!" I shrieked in horror. Drats.
I was literally rooted to the ground. Dumbstruck. How could I lose it? I always have it with me! It's the one and only gift my biological father left for me. There is no way to justify this careless mistake; what would he think of me? I am a horrible human being.
"Drew!" I yelled across the hallway "Have you seen my bracelet?" crossing my fingers that he hid it as a prank.
"What?" He hollered back from his room. I'm guessing that was a no.
"If this is a prank it's not funny!" I started to tense up. This was serious business. It wasn't just any bracelet. Only I would understand.
"I swear to god I don't even know!" His assurance left me in panic.
Jesus, where could it be? Don't tell me it grew legs and ran away. Let me recall where I last saw it... It was still with me when we were doing physical training... The pool! I must have left it at the swimming clubhouse! I'll have to go see for myself! It's almost 9pm, if I rush over now I could probably make it before the gates officially lock.
I slipped on a Hollister tee and my striped slippers (what a bad choice of footwear for a mile and a half of running), slapped my watch back on and pulled my brown locks into a messy bun.
"Drew, tell Mom I'll be back late!"
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, dashing for the clubhouse.
Drats! It was just four minutes past the closing time. The main gate was locked already. Last week they forgot to lock the pool up until half past ten. Are you kidding me, of all days, today?
I have a strong feeling the world really loathes my existence.
I rushed to the intercom system and dialed the clubhouse office, crossing my fingers that the security staff hadn't knocked off yet, and hopefully he will allow me in.
"Sandler Recreational Club, how may I help you" I muffled voice followed along the dial tone. I heaved a sigh of relief.
"Hi I take swimming classes here and I misplaced my valuables earlier this afternoon during training so I was wondering if you could let me in so I could do a quick search?" I panicked as there was a moment of hesitation on the other end of the line.
"Hmm... I'm really sorry, it's past operating hours, why don't you come back tomorrow?" He suggested.
I couldn't put this off. I had to find it. I didn't run all the way here to return with no clue of where my bracelet was.
"Please let me in, this really means a lot to me, I have to find it as soon as possible." I begged at the brink of tears.
"Hmm... May I have your name please?" The robotic voice boomed out of the little metal box.
I scrambled around the room, lifting every book and scrutinizing every corner of my room for the Pandora charm bracelet. Items were strewn everywhere; it looked like a category nine tornado hit the Dillon family.
"Carrie Annabelle Dillon. I take the advanced competitive swimming," I answered back, guessing that he was trying to identify me in the attendance records.
