Carrie’s
I felt soft sheets wrapped around me; I felt the warmth and comfort of a dumpling.
I felt the warmth and comfort of a kiss.
“Carrie, feeling better?” His voice was music to my ears.
“Yeah, much better” I grinned from ear to ear; nothing felt better than having Drew by my side.
Wait a minute. Drew was by my side? The kiss? I mean, for real? Sleeping beauty woke up from her deep slumber on true love’s kiss, to the Prince that she loved her entire life. This could only mean one thing.
“You hungry? I’ll get you some food alright?” Drew interrupted my train of fantasy thoughts. I meekly nodded, smiling at the blanket, unable to make eye contact with him. I could feel myself getting redder and hotter at the fact that our lips touched. After all that happened, didn’t he feel shy at all? Well, I know that my heart is pumping like a bullet train. I was bursting with joy inside, almost wanting to cry tears of joy and glee.
I can’t believe it. All my efforts paid off. He legit loves me.
“Here, eat up!” He set a bowl of freshly cooked porridge on my desk. The room encapsulated the fragrant aroma and boy, did it smell heavenly. Well, obviously, since he cooked it.
Whoa. Calm your raging hormones Carrie, take it slow.
“That’s really sweet Drew! I love you,” I mumbled the second sentence, afraid that I would scare him away. But secretly, I hoped so bad that he would hear it. I was hinting to him that he should just quickly fess up. All this waiting was making me so nervous. I sound so desperate, but I really couldn’t afford for him to slip away any further.
“After you’re done, rest some more, and don’t say no,” He ruffled my hair and left the room. Bummer, I was a tiny bit disappointed he didn’t say I love you back. Well, at least I scored the kiss? And when he messed up my hair? How cute is that? Just like the movies.
I couldn’t stop grinning as I helped myself with a gluttony spoonful of porridge. It tasted as good as it smelt. After polishing every single grain of rice, I chugged down the warm cocoa that he prepared. It gave me a sudden déjà vu; a freakishly familiar and distinct tingle on my taste buds. Besides that, it was sweet; perhaps just the sweetness of Andrew’s vibes.
That day, he was the only thing on my mind.
Everyday the tension in our household was building up. Especially when Drew poked me or slapped me on the arm playfully. But the words that I wanted to hear weren’t coming any time soon. I couldn’t wait any longer.
