                                                                                      Matt's POV

So, study hall was my fifth period out of the eight we have in the school day. Our lunch period was smack dab in the center of the day, so meaning fourth period, which is at about 11:33. We usually get dismissed at 11:30, giving me a three minute grace period, slightly shorter than our usual five minute grace period. That gave me time to stop by my main hall locker to get my iPod and earbuds for study hall.

                                                                      ~Time Skip~

Other than that bizarre interruption at the beginning of the day, the afternoon was pretty basic. Advisory, Pre-calculus, and now I'm half way through English. Our group decided to sit at a table together so we could start right away. Matthew was at the head of the table, Nate next to Mark, Daniel next to Ryan, and Sarah was sitting next to me.

After Mrs. Hannah finished her long, boring, explanation, we practically jumped right into the project. Although it was obvious this project would take about a week and a half, we wanted to get as much done as possible.

"So," Matthew softly clapped his hands, looking at all of us, "What kind of Shakespearean ideas do you guys have cooking?"

"Well, I feel like a lot of people will be doing Hamlet, or Romeo and Juliet, but I think we should mix it up a bit, ya know? Maybe we could do Macbeth?" Ryan chimed, as if he had rehearsed it. I think my expression showed some kind of amazement or some form of shock, because when he glanced between all of us, when he got to me he smiled and giggled a little. Huh, he really knows his plays. That's awesome! This is going to be easy.

                                                                                   Ryan's POV

"So, what kind of Shakespearean ideas do you guys have cooking?" Matthew said, grinning. Yes! This is my chance to impress Matt. Wait, dos he like drama, or even Shakespeare? I don't have time to hesitate.

"Well, I feel like a lot of people will be doing Hamlet, or Romeo and Juliet, but I think we should mix it up a bit, ya know? Maybe we could do Macbeth?" I said with ease. It tried to maintain eye contact with everyone, to at least seem confident. As I panned through our group everyone except Daniel seems shocked. Especially Matt. Did it work? I hope so...

You'd think being a drama student I would be able to keep from smiling or giggling, but, nope. Not at all. Then, my worst nightmare became reality.

"Eh, I don't know. Sounds pretty gay, if you ask me," a voice from behind said. That awful voice was followed by some laughter. I turned red. Oh, no. not Xander.

     "Oh, what the hell, man."

     "Grow up!"

     "Dude, what's your problem?"

One after another, the people in my group started spitting words back at Xander. None being hateful or rude, just kind of... replenishing would I say? But the thing that stuck out was it began with one person. Matt.

"Whatever..." Xander huffed, saying what sounded like faggot under his breath. Honestly, it kinda hurt. They didn't mean anything but still, it hurt.

"Wow, what a dick," Mark whispered, "I don't know about you guys, but I'm down for Ryan's idea. It sounds more original."

"Yeah. I really like that idea. I agree with Mark," Matt smiled, looking in my general direction.

"Macbeth it is! Let's get sta-" Matthew was cut off by Nate.

"Wait, does anyone even know what Macwhatever is about?"

Everyone looked at me. So, I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried my best to remember the main summary of the play. I thought about this just for a second, "So basically the story is about a brave Scottish general named Macbeth that receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that says one day he will become King of Scotland. He then becomes consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia. What do you guys think?"

"Good Christ, Ryan. You really know you theater..." Mark says. That statement is followed by many nods and a sarcastic glance from Daniel. this is going to be easy.
