It wasn't Solo.

Instead, the hotel bellboy smiled up at the huge figure of the Russian spy. "A letter was brought for you, sir." He passed the letter to Illya and closed the door as he left.

The room was silent. Gaby looked at Illya and then at the letter. "I'll leave you..."

"No," Illya grabbed Gaby's hand. "Stay. We have no secrets between us." He looked up at her, trying to read her expression for a clue or a drop of guilt. Her face stayed neutral. Instead, she smiled and nodded, looking at the letter in his large hands.

He slit open the paper and read the letter out loud.

"My Dear Son, Illya,

How I miss you even though we only say each other a day ago. I wouldn't trade that memory for the world. My son. I can't believe I've talked to you finally after three years of no contact. Your sister will be so happy. I've already sent a letter to her. I pray she will receive it and she won't die before it comes.

I truly believe her knowing you're alive and well will save her. Though I also believe that her seeing you in person will make her healthier than before. Please, I beg you son, come home to me and your family. You have no business with those people in Istanbul. You have more to do for us in Moscow.

I'll remind you of your betrothed. Seda Alneikova also waits for the day you come back home and take her as your bride. Her father is desperate, and threatens to stop supplying us with money if you don't come soon to marry her daughter. What will we do without money, my son? We won't be able to buy food or your sister's medicine. It will be the end for us.

Come home, and save us.

Lots of love,

Your mother, Anna Kuryakin"

Illya looks at the words again, though now they look like scribbles on a dirty piece of paper. He never should have met up with his mother and filled her with hope. His duty is in Istanbul, with Solo and the rest of U.N.C.L.E. And Gaby.

Gaby...
