Solo had fallen asleep. Illya was the only one awake, refusing to shut his eyes for a second in case Gaby drifted off to more than sleep. To death. He was terrified that if he slept, he would find her unresponsive in his arms the next morning. Gaby shuddered in his arms and he looked down at her. He stroked her face and smiled reassuringly as her brown eyes opened slightly.

"Illya?" Gaby croaked and looking up at the smiling Russian agent. She tried to smile back, but her cracked lips wouldn't seem to allow her to.

Illya nodded. "You're going to be OK. I promise."

"Illya I was thinking..." Gaby pursed her lips and gazed into his blue eyes. "Please don't go back to Moscow..."

"I won't." He interrupted.

She shook her head. "No, I want you to go to Moscow to see your family. But I want to come with you." Gaby lips her lips, trying to moisten them. She realized she was parched. "I want to be happy, but I can't without you. And I want to be happy too. So wherever you go, Illya, I go."

Illya looked into Gaby's eyes. Only some months ago he was chasing her down in a car with Solo because she was his target to find. She was still his target now, but she wasn't escaping this time.

Gaby was starting to fall asleep again, so Illya kissed her scarred forheard.

"Goodnight, my little chop-shop girl. Promise you'll stay alive."
