PROLOGUE
A scream of delight came from my lips the moment I took off down the road and left the idiot beside me, behind.
First race and I've already kicked someone's ass! I thought to myself.
It was then that I realised that the car was loosing power and the guy was catching up, quick.
"What's going on out there, Kid?" Coach said to me through the Bluetooth ear piece I was wearing.
"I don't know, the car just started loosing power." I said frantically.
"Don't start getting frantic on me now, Kid." He said to me. I shifted gears and just kept driving. "You aren't to far from that finish line, so just focus and we'll look at the car when you get back.
I started hearing a hissing sound coming from the engine. "Coach, there's a hissing sound coming from the engine bay. So I'm thinking its a vacuum leak."
"You gotta watch your brakes, Kid, you got a brake booster leak. Start breaking after the last building and you'll be just fine."
I shifted gears again and planted my foot. Just as I started pulling away, I started lowering my foot on the brake slowly and when I came to the last building I planted my foot on the brake, spinning the car over the finish line and watching the guy shit himself when I came to a stop.
"Here's to the kid, winning her first race!" Coach said to the crew in front. "We're looking forward to working with you, so don't let us down."
"She's sixteen and she can drive better then the last driver." One of the crew said loudly, He'd already been stuck into the piss.
"Coach, I wanna be the best driver anyone has ever seen and I wanna know the ins and outs of every car I drive."
"That'll take some time, Kid." Coach said while ruffling my short hair.
"I don't care, I'm willing to take the time and kick ass." I said. I could see a smile forming on the Coaches face and I knew I was going to get what I wanted.
"You got a deal, Kid. From now on, you come to the garage after school. Each of the boys will teach you something." He said giving me a piece of paper with the address of the garage on it.
"What will you be doing, Coach?"
"Teaching you to drive."
"Okay!"
"The first person you'll be with is Jacob." He said calling him over and the introductions started.
