A childs fear

The hoot of an owl,
The howl of a dog.
In the darkness,
Eeriness did evolve.

Under the covers,
I did hide.
Wishing to avoid,
Any uncanny sight.

Light penetrated
Through the hole of the key,
And black shilloutes,
In the darkness I could see.

All night long,
Not a wink I did sleep.
But as long as I was safe,
Insomnia never bothered me.
