The sun had already begun to set. It cast amber colors through my window, making everything its warm glow touched look like it was on fire. And my heart was on fire.

I waited by the open window, leaning out as I anxiously tapped my fingers along the windowsill as I stared out. A small breeze flittered through, ruffling the papers strewn across my desk. As the wind blew against me, my heart was soaring as well, with hope. And fear.

"Oh Danielle, what have you gotten yourself into now?" I muttered to myself. "He isn't going to come. Perhaps this is all one crazy dream..." I trailed off into silence.

A small sigh escaped my lips as I continued to wait. The sun began to dip below the roofs of higher buildings. The light wasn't going to last long. Perhaps he meant sunrise, instead of sunset, I thought doubtfully.

Just when I was going to close the window, a dark hand stopped me in my tracks. Handsome as ever, Ezio was there, inching the window open. His hood was off his head, and I could finally see his face properly.

"So?" He spoke, breaking my thoughts suddenly. I stood up in one swift motion.

"I'm joining. I'm joining you in the Creed, in the fight against the Templars. I'm in," I announced.

Ezio's eyebrows raised in shock and surprise. "You sure? You-"

"I do!" I interrupted him stubbornly. He grinned in triumph.

"Good! Now, ready to leave your old life behind?"

"Yes?"

"Okay. Let's go now!" Ezio added, grabbed my arm. In a jolt, he was out of the window. I had to ungracefully follow, twisting in his grasp.

"You know, it will be easier if you let go of me!" I informed and his grip disappeared. Now, I could follow him through the streets.

The moon was already up in the sky, halfway to midnight. The silver glow casted an eerie white light on everything. Bright candles were being put out, as the town got ready to sleep.

"Where is your horse?" Ezio slowed down to stop.

"In the gate stables. Why?" I answered, unsure of what was going to happen.

"You will need your horse. Now go!"

Shrugging, I followed him. The streets looked dangerous in the night, men were entering taverns and drunken ones were slouched outside.

We entered the warm stable and I walked straight to my steed, while Ezio waited outside. Sensing his urgency, I paid the stable master before brining the brown pinto mare, who nuzzled me gently.

"I will hold yours. Now can you please get mine? Black stallion," he spoke, taking the reigns from me.

"Okay," I answered, walking back in. I paid for the horse again and took out the black steed, who obediently followed. Ezio swung up into the saddle as I did suit.

The horses began at a simple trot, quickening as the moon rose higher. But when the gates showed, Ezio ordered them to walk slowly. He pulled down his hood even further and bowed.

Guessing that he was pretending to be a scholar, he allowed me to go first while he got off his horse and lead the creature behind him.

"Halt," a guard ordered, walking up to me.

"Yes?" I asked him.

"Go," he spoke plainly, allowing me to pass through. I kicked my horse's stomach, making her trot, not too fast or else the guards would think twice about me.

"Halt!" A guard called. I stiffened and turned around. The guard was not looking at me, but was trying to speak to Scholar Ezio.

Relieved, I turned and made my mare run into a slow gallop.

"Oh please get through Ezio," I whispered as the darkness engulfed my figure.
