"Where have all the good men gone, and where are all the Gods?, Where's the street-wise Hercules, to fight the rising odds?" - Ella Mae Bowen/Bonnie Tyler
THAT SAME NIGHT
BACKSTAGE AT THE AVALON
MAX'S POVPlaying for this crowd is going to be insane tonight.
I was unsure at first whether or not I should perform at a place like this in LA tonight, but my mom deliberately insisted that it happen. I was honestly surprised that the Avalon would even take me as entertainment at last minute. They usually always had someone scheduled, but maybe I was just lucky enough tonight to get a spot here.
My mom had also told me before I showed up tonight to keep my eyes peeled for a certain someone tonight. She didn't exactly describe what she looked like, but she said it in such a way that this person was really someone special. And if I missed out on them, I'd never get that chance again.
I just hope she's not trying to set me up again. Especially after everything that went down with Emily.
Either way, this crowd looks really promising. I really hope they're the type of crowd that will dance along and sing my lyrics back at me, because to me those moments that you have with your fans are truly magical.
As I'm looking through the curtains, there's a girl fighting through the crowd that catches my eye. Her curled, honey blonde hair cascades down to her shoulder blades. The dance floor lights are shining in her forest green eyes. And her black, lacy cover-up drapes over her body-fitting dress, which is a stunning navy blue.
*She's remarkable.
*Wait, why does she look so familiar?*
Ever since I found out about Emily, I've been having dreams of a girl that looks almost exactly like her, but a lot younger.
And they always seem so real.
I see myself hugging this girl, and a scent of vanilla and strawberry filling my nose. I always thought that dream it was a weird combination for a dream, but it weirdly put me into a state of relaxation. Suddenly I was in a van, and this girl was chasing me down the street. She was running as fast as her legs could carry her with tears drenching her face, her hair whipping around her, and her body trembling. I could hear her voice from inside the car.
"Don't leave me!"
"Please come back!"
"I need you!"
And I did nothing. I didn't make whoever was driving stop the car so I could go to her and tell her that everything would be alright. I didn't roll the window down and tell her to go away. I didn't get my phone out to call her and convince her to stop chasing me. Instead I sat there staring at her as my heart broke to pieces. I bawled like a little kid who had their security blanket taken away from them. And as I saw her trip in the road, she yells my name.
And that's when I wake up from my dream. I always wake up to tears running down my face, barely able to breath and barely able to control my violent shaking. And then I would punch my soaked pillow a few times in anger, before crying myself to sleep again.
This dream has been haunting me for a couple years now. Tonight, I have to find closure. Especially after seeing that girl.
With closure, I hope to finally get rid of these haunting dreams.

AFTER THE CONCERT
MIKAYLA'S POV"Wow." I hear Aly breathe beside me.
"I know." I reply the same way.
"Who knew a guy like him could be so talented?"
"Even I didn't know, which I usually do."
