"Oh. It's nothing" I say wincing as he tries to touch it.
"I just fell, and hit myself."
He looks at me with sceptical eyes.
"Are you sure, because if it was that guy Ryder, I will punch the sh-"
"I am sure, and if you think I'm lying then you can leave! Ryder had nothing to do with it!" I yell as my voice gets horse from crying all night.
Emmet immediately looks hurt.
"I was just making sure your okay, I didn't mean to upset you."
I roll my eyes
"You don't even know me. Why do you care. I don't kneed someone to fight my own battles for me." I spit back. Emmet looks at me, turns around and doesn't look at me as he says
"Your right! I don't know you. But I do know that just because your dad went of and died doesn't mean you get to treat other people like crap. Thanks for the mess. I would appreciate it if you left now."
In a fuming mess I stomp out of the apartment not bothering to look back at him. I am not a wussy teen who can't deal with her own problems. I don't kneed someone fighting for me. I get in my truck and drive away. I drive all the way to the dojo, and walk in as the bell at the door twinkles twice. James is at the front desk.
"Hey Mackenzie? That's your name right? I think your class isn't till nest Monday, and where's Emmet?"
I move closer to him as he examines my face. He opens his mouth with a look of pity. I don't need pity. I need strength.
"I need a private class. Now."
"I would have to cancel the couple cung-pow, the one with Emmet."
"So be it. I don't care. James. Get me that class."
James turns to the computer and says "well there's one here but it starts today and the teach-"
"Great I'll take it. Where are your change rooms."I ask fumbling for my bag
"Around the corner and go straight. The room with be on he east side number 376, and Mackenzie, good luck. It was nice to see you."
I smile halfheartedly
"Thanks for you help" I run to the change rooms with my heart racing, ready to face my first class. I start walking to the east end and find room 376. Still fuming from this mornings argument I stalk into the room not noticing the figure in the corner.
"What the hell are you doing here!?"
I whip my head around glaring at HIM. Emmet.
"Oh god, please tell me that you aren't my teacher." I sneer.
"Get off your high horse. I'm here to take a class." He rolls his eyes and bored his eyes into me as he starts stretching.
"You know you should probably stretch, Chase will kick your ass."
He says not looking at me.
"I will do what the hell I want. And who the fuck is Chase?"
"I the fuck am Chase." A tall boy says as he walks in. His eyes are almost black with ch chestnut brown hair. He is lugging a couple of punching matts and punching bags behind him.
"The question is who are you. You are not in my class usually and this is a private class." He grunt as he throws the equipment into a trunk.
"I'm Kenzie, James said this class was open." I say as he rubs his temples. I glance at emmet as he stretches.
"So uh. Kenzie, I work like this. You listen and do what I say, so what is your knowledge on marshal-arts?"
He says with his hands propped on his hips.
"Uhhhh, I took a class a year ago. I stopped about two months ago. I mean I'm not gre-"
"Great we will start with warm up." He interrupts.
"Hey! I was talking! If you get respect then so should I."
"You know you have some nerve, coming here barging into my PRIvate class." He raises his voice as he stalks towards me.  Chase stands so close our breath mingles. He reaches my hand to my face graving my chin quite roughly and turning it.
"Did someone punch you are something that's a nasty ass bruise. Not such a stick up now, are ya."
"I-" I start to say but I am Rudely interrupted by Emmet
"She supposedly fell down the stairs, although no one actually believes that. She just can't flipping open up to anyone because her dad di-"
I run over to him and shove the heel of my hand right into his jaw.
"Aw shit! What the hell! When did you become such a hormonal lady." He says rubbing his jaw.
"I am-" I kick his stomach "not a-" round house his feet so he falls straight to the floor "HORMONAL GIRL" I finally yell as my forearm is pressed against his throat.
"I believe I said lady"
I flip him off. Man this boy is a prick. When did I ever like him and why. He's such a lowlife who can't take anything he gives.
"Enough. Both of you. Start the warm up. I want all the equipment out here in front of me. Punching back hung up and all the matts lined up properly. Forget anything and you owe me 30 push-ups. And go."
I start to unload everything from the trunk. And jESUS these things are heavy. Everyone of them just seems to get heavier and heavier each time. I finish my trunk first ready to start.
"Seeing as no one forgot anything, today we will be going over maneuvering people off of you while in danger. So flipping and kicking today."
I smile wickedly towards the oblivious Emmet.
This was going to be fun.
