Cal could sprint without feeling any burning or cramps in his body. He felt like he could run the whole world and never lose breath.
Though, Wyatt seemed to be getting exhausted, he pushed on.Cal knew his neighbourhood by heart, he knew where Wyatt was heading. There is a great end to the ground just a mile away past the upcoming road in the forest.
People normally go there to look at the sunset and spend some quality time with their loved ones. Wyatt, on the other hand, had a plan to go beyond that cliff. It was true, Cal couldn't run out of air, but Wyatt was a runner, so it seemed impossible to catch up, but Cal extended his stride and even leaned forward to gain a small boost of speed. If he fell on his face, that would be it for both him and Wyatt.
The sun shone through the opening of trees like an eye that watched eagerly as the two made their way to the end, in suspense as to whether or not Wyatt would be saved.
Cal fell and lost his momentum, his heart stopped when he saw how much distance was between him and Wyatt.
He scrambled to his feet and went as fast as he could, beginning to cry as fear caved in on his thoughts.
He couldn't let him do it. If he did, he'd have to go through the same thing, Cal would become a piece of paper that would have to guide him through it all. Plus two other people.
The sun shone in his eyes and caused him to shut them, running blindly.
A bright shade of red was glowing through his eyelids, letting him know that the light was still there.
He felt something, he ran through it. It felt like he ran through a wall of water. He opened his eyes just in time to see Wyatt falling down, screaming with his eyes closed into the endless pit of darkness.
Cal fell to his knees and stared down into the dark. Instantly after shedding a tear, he had disappeared, becoming a small parchment of paper, slowly twirling down after Wyatt.
"You will only speak what was spoken to you. Do not tell him of who you once were." Said a loud yet somehow serene voice.
Cal gently landed onto the ground in front of a pair of semi-transparent sneakers. He looked up at Wyatt, who was looking around before looking down and lifting Cal, who began to float around, unable to control himself.

The next chapter will be the alternate ending where
Wyatt was reached in time. If you want a happier ending,
