I walked into high school for my first day since the move. I decided to put on my checkered dress, I wanted to make a nice impression. Gazing at the sky, the sun sparkled in a welcoming manner and the sky itself was a lovely shade of blue. The building had tangled ivy up its sides and I decided I liked it. The bell harshly rang, that I did not like. I had always wondered why they couldn't make a school bell sound pleasant. They had a choice to make it sound like bells or piano notes, instead they chose a sound that seemed like the closest to misery they could find. I realized I should probably get to class so I began to make my way there. Kids bustled around, colors flying everywhere. I found the correct room and hurried to the seat nearest to the window. Students filed into the classroom and the teacher began to speak but, I payed them no mind.
"Delilah?" The teacher called, snapping me out of my haze.
"Here" I smiled then retreated back into my mind.
I couldn't pay attention because I was watching the sunlight that spilled into the classroom. It shifted and dazzled and blanketed the teacher and many of the students. I played with a strand of my reddish-orange hair and was taken from my daze as I felt a tapping on my back. Semi-startled, I turned to face a lopsided smile. He had hair that matched the sunlight streaking through the window and eyes to go with the morning sky.
"You're new?" He questioned, but I had a feeling he already knew the answer.
"I am." His eyebrow raised, leading me to believe he was somewhat amused with my response, or lack there of. I then noticed multiple girls, not so subtly, staring at us. I also noticed how most of their faces were scrunched up as if something fowl lingered in the air.
The sunshine boy then laughed and it sounded exactly how I would've imagined. A perfect blend of musical and manly that couldn't help but be endearing. I then started to understand the girls with unpleasant faces.
"Sit with me at lunch", he smiled.
"I don't even know your name", I frowned.
The bell screeched and all the students, including the boy, rose rather quickly and made their way to the door. He was halfway there when he when he turned around, still with a lingering smirk.
"Adam', he reached the door,"I'll see you at lunch."
He exited the classroom, leaving me slightly frazzled as I gathered my things and departed as well.
