Nova p.o.v

Light started seeping through my window, which only meant one thing: it was morning. My eyes looked around the room, searching for something. I wasn't sure what it was, but something felt... off? It was as if I knew something happened last night, but I couldn't place it. It was probably just the meds talking. I got out of bed, slipped on my slippers, and headed out the door for breakfast.

My feet led me down the same hallway I have been down at least a thousand times, down the stairs and into the cafeteria. I gave the same smile I give everyday to the receptionist, telling her my name, then giving me a spoon and a plate, getting a bagel with cream cheese and orange juice and heading towards my usual table. Aurra and Vems were always there before me.

I sat down, they smiled, I returned it and then tried to enter their conversation. It was the same thing every morning.

"What are you guys doing today?" Vems asked.

"I signed up for the writing class." Aurra answered.

"I did it two weeks ago, it really good."

I wasn't too fond of the writing class, maybe because I am bad at writing even though I always kept a journal, but maybe because during 2 hours, they force you to write. I just think that you can't just sit down and write with a set amount of time, I think that you write when something comes to you, when you feel inspired. I guess that's just my opinion and my own personal way of writing.

"I signed up for the horse hike." I said.

The horse hike was one of my favorite activities to do here. Basically, we walk to the ranch, we pick our horse, and we follow a trail. Then once we arrived at the end, we get off our horses, attach them, and climb the rest by foot. The view up there is absolutely breath taking, and being able to be so high up, the wind in your hair and freedom running through your veins is amazing.

"Ouhh fun!" Vems teased. He was never a horse person. Or a hike person either.

Breakfast continued on, talking about what we usual discuss. We headed back to our rooms to get ready for the day. I changed into black jeans, low white converse, and a baggy white t-shirt with a small black pocket. It was simple. I never liked wearing overly complicated shirts with prints or vibrant colors. I was a black and white girl. I went over to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and my hair and headed over to the horse hike meet up point which was over at the ranch. I started walking down the long white hallway leading over to the stairs when a rough hand grabbed my arm, and jerked me back.

"Nova, sorry to have startled you, but I was wondering where I have to go for the horse hike?" Oliver spoke with his deep husky voice.

"You're doing the horse hike?" I asked shocked that a guy like him would be interested in something like that.

"I know it's weird, but I thought it could be fun to go out and take a breath."

"No, no it's not weird at all! I'm doing it too! We'll walk over together?" I asked him, the palms of my hands starting to sweat, waiting for his answer. For some reason, my heart was pounding. He made me nervous, and I don't know why. "I mean, if you want..."

"Yeah sure, why not."

If he would have rejected me, I don't know what I would have done. It would have been so embarrassing, even thinking about is making my cheeks heat it. I pushed the thought out of my mind, as we continued walking. We shuffled down the stairs, and pushed the exit door. A fresh morning breeze blew in my face, and I couldn't help the small smile creep up to my lips. He noticed.
