Chapter 1-Ali

I want to record everything that’s been happening to me, so I can try and find some sanity in these words. I want to prove I’m human, so some crazy scientist doesn’t lock me up and experiment on me. I shudder just thinking about that. I’m off track. Like I said this is a record of what has happened to me and if someone finds it or me, I’m totally human and sane. I hope.

This morning started out normally, just like any other morning. I got ready for school. School was normal too. Well, until after lunch.

It was the second period after lunch when Mrs. Clays called me down to the school office. I went trying to think back if I did anything bad. Not coming up with anything I decided it was okay to go in without my ‘I’m very sorry’ face.

There was an orange haired boy sitting in one of the chairs looking at the floor. I walked up to the desk.

“You wanted to see me Mrs. Clays?” I asked.

She looked up and nodded at the boy sitting. “He claims he knows you,” she said.

I turned to say you got the wrong person to the boy, but he said, “Are you Alika Geragos?” He still hadn’t looked up.

“Yes,” I answered suspiciously. Who is this guy? I wondered.

Before I could ask him, he looked up. I gasped and then covered my mouth. He had a burn mark running down half his face. He scowled.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, you just took me by surprise.” I slapped my forehead. “Sorry,” I said.

“Doesn’t matter,” he grunted, “When is your sixteenth birthday?”

“In three weeks. Why? Who are you?” I asked.

“Damnit! I’m late,” he muttered, ignoring my questions.

I looked towards the floor, not wanting to stare at his scar and make him mad even more. “You need to come with me,” the boy said.

 “Why?”

The door opened up and I man stepped inside. He pulled out a gun and said, “Sorry I’m late Ali.” My eyes widened and I looked at him.

“Alika, you need to get out of here,” the boy said. He stood in front of me.

“You’ll have to get through me first,” he said.

My hands started to vibrate and I looked down at them. Electricity was swirling around my hands. I screamed in surprise. The boy looked behind him and saw my hands. He swore. The man in the doorway took his chance and pushed the boy out of the way and grabbed my hand. The hand that had electricity around it. The guy realized too late and got electrocuted. My eyes got even bigger with surprise.

The boy had gotten to his feet and looked at me. “That was close. You might want to-” he got cut off as I fainted into darkness.

When I woke up, I was in the school infirmary. I rubbed my head and sat up. The boy was at the foot of the bed, eating a chocolate bar.

“Are you okay?” he asked. I shrugged. “You shouldn’t have done that. The power. That’s like sending out a flare signal to anyone who has high Spiritual Energy,” he said.

“Who are you? What’s this power? Do you mean the electricity that came out of my hand?” I rushed all the questions out of me.

“I’m Mello,” he said. He snapped off a piece of chocolate and handed it to me.
