Mello's POV

Matt and Alika were pressed up against the wall, sucking face. I have to say it was really gross and awkward just to watch them, but I was glad for Matt. He finally got off his lazy ass and got a girl.

I walked away to the main room. I sat down and bit off a piece of chocolate. It snapped off unusually loud this time.

If Near shows up in a limo or some goddamn fancy car, I will not hesitate to send the mafia after him.

"You're not boss yet, Mello," I recalled Rodd saying. I grit my teeth. I should be. It was better for Alika to leave anyway. For her sake and mine.

Near was already working on the Kira case and I had barely started even though I ran away two years ago.

So many things were going on in my mind, I couldn't keep up with them all.

Matt and Alika walked in holding hands and being all lovey dovey or however the hell you want to put it.

There was a pang in my chest that I couldn't exactly explain.

Alika let go of Matt's hand and ran over to me, smiling wildly. "Hey," she giggled.

I scooted away. "Hi," I said slowly. She was awfully happy for leaving in a hour or two.

Matt scratched his neck awkwardly. "Why can't she stay again?" he asked.

I sighed. "We have work to do and she'd just be in the way," I said. I was really getting annoyed in such a short amount of time.

"Melloooo," Alika cooed. "Please let me stay."

"No."

"Why noooot?" She grabbed my arm and hugged it to herself and stared up at me with big eyes.

She was really getting on my nerves. I clenched my fists and pushed her off, standing up. "I have things to do and Near would be a better supervisor. He doesn't exactly have mafia members hanging around his place," I said.

Alika pouted.

"Come on, man," Matt said.

"No, you should've thought of this before you started swapping spit with her."

"Oh, I see why you're so pissed off. You're jealous," Matt said smugly.

"I'm not jealous. Why would I be jealous?" I snapped at him.

"You're jealous I have a girlfriend and you don't," Matt boasted.

"I'm not jealous!" I yelled.

"Okay okay," Matt smiled cockily.

"I'm not," I muttered again.

Alika rushed over to Matt and grabbed his arm. "What do you want to do Matty?" she asked him.

He smiled and leaned down.

I shook my head and looked away. This was going to be a long hour and a half.

~~~
Near came early, like the perfect little boy he is. Alika, of course, didn't want to leave her 'Mattykins'. I was almost glad when she left. She had gotten all weird and clingy to Matt it was annoying.
Near took Alika by the arm and led her into a limo. The idiot, arriving in a limo. She looked back longingly at Matt.
The car pulled away and into the distance.
"Glad she's gone," I heard Matt mutter.
I looked back at him. "Why?" I asked.
"She was fine when she wasn't love struck. Then she went a little insane," he explained. I nodded and didn't say anything.
I started to head back inside. "Let's just focus on the Kira case now," I said. And the race finally begins.
