After stopping at a convenient store for something to eat and some beer and cigarettes, they began to look for a hotel to stay in for the night.

All Tim knew was that they were somewhere in the middle of the country. Maybe Nebraska or Kansas. He wasn't sure. He wasn't even for sure if Avi knew how to read a road map.

He was sure of one thing, though, he was missing his little buddy. Austin.

After getting settled into their room, Avi grabs the remote and sits down at the foot of the bed and starts flipping through the channels.

Tim lays down on the other bed, propping himself up with pillows against the headboard. He pulls out his phone and pulls up Austin's contact number. He presses enter then puts the phone to his ear.

"Who are you calling?" Avi asks, glancing over his shoulder at him.

"Austin." Tim answers. "He probably thinks I've fallen off the face of the earth. I haven't called him since I left."

Avi nods and turns his attention back to the television. He was feeling something that could only be described as jealousy.

~~ phone conversation ~~

"Hello?" Austin answers.

"Hey, Freckles." Tim smiles at the sound of his friend's voice.

"OH MY GOD!! TIMMY!!" Austin shouts almost busting Tim's eardrum.

"How ya been, Kid?" Tim asks.

"Missing you. Where the hell are you?" Austin asks.

"Well, I'm not really sure. I think we're somewhere in Kansas or Nebraska." Tim chuckles.

"Kansas?" Austin laughs. "Oh, that sounds real exciting. (sarcastically) Whoa. Hold Up. WE? As in, you and someone else? Do tell."

Tim curses himself for letting it slip that he was not alone. Now comes the 50 questions.

"Uh, yeah." Tim lowers his voice a little hoping that Avi was too wrapped up in the episode of 'Game Of Thorns' he was watching to be listening.

Wrong.

"I, uh, picked up a hitchhiker in California." Tim answers.

"Well? Does this hitchhiker have a name?" Austin asks with a smirk.

"His name is Avi." Tim says quietly.

"He?" Austin giggles. "And HE is still with you? Is HE cute?"

"Yes, to both questions." Tim answers with a slight smile.

"Is he gay? Have you banged him yet? Do you have a picture you can send me?" Austin threw out questions just like Tim knew he would.

"Austin." Tim whines.

"Just answer the questions, Timmy Boy." Austin laughs.

"Yes. No and Yes." Tim answers.

"What? He's cute and you haven't made a move on him? Have you kissed?" Austin asks.

"No and yes." Tim answers.

"Is he a good kisser." Austin smiles as he bites his lip.

"Yes, very good." Tim answers.

"Is he there now." Austin asks.

"Mhmm." Tim says glancing over at Avi who was still glued to the show.

"So that's why I'm getting the short answers." Austin chuckles.

"Mhmm." Tim chuckles.

"Well, if I like what I see in the picture, if you don't want to bang him you can always give him my number." Austin laughs.

"Hell, no." Tim answers quickly. "Enough about me and my adventure. Tell me about this new roommate.

"Oh, God. Tim, he is gorgeous." Austin answers.

"Have you banged him yet?" Tim chuckles.

Avi's eyes widened in shock as he eavesdropped.

"Yep. Many times and vise versa." Austin laughs.

"Holy sh*t, Austin." Tim laughs. "You have to send me a picture of this Adam."

"But seriously, Tim." Austin says in a more serious tone. "I could really fall in love with him."

"Austin, that's not good." Tim says softly shaking his head.

"Yeah, I know that. But he's perfect in every way." Austin sighs.

"But, Sweetie, you're both prostitutes. You can't build a relationship with That." Tim says.

"I know. No strings attached, right?" Austin smiles sadly. "So you just have to turn your feelings off?"

"More or less." Tim says as he gazes out the window. "I think I've had to turn my feelings off so many times that I don't even know how to love anymore."

Avi sighs and swallows a lump that rose in his throat.

"Alright, change of subject." Austin chuckles as he wipes a tear. "Do you have enough money?"

"Yeah, for right now. We've been eating cheap. Only getting hotel rooms every other night, sleeping in the car the other night. Helps to save money." Tim answers.

"If you start to run low on money, Please, Tim, let me know." Austin says. "I don't want you to have to go back to your old ways to get money."

"I hope not too." Tim says with a soft chuckle.

"No. I don't want to hear that. I've got plenty of money saved. If you need it, it's yours. I can wire it to where ever you are." Austin tells him. "Promise?"

"Alright, I promise." Tim says.

"So don't spread your legs to nobody but that cutie that is traveling with you." Austin chuckles.

"Austin! Oh, my God! Okay, I'm hanging up now." Tim laughs.

"Please be careful. And remember, I love you." Austin smiles.

"I will. Love you, too." Tim smiles, ending the call.

He gets up quietly and goes to the refrigerator for another beer.

"So? How's he doing?" Avi asks looking up at him.

"Alright, I guess." Tim answers as he lays down on the bed that Avi was sitting on.

"You don't sound too sure of yourself." Avi says as he scoots back into the bed and lays next to Tim.

"I'm just afraid that he's heading for a heartbreak." Tim answers as Avi cuddles next to him. "He's falling for his roommate."

"Oh. For some reason, I thought that you two were ... you know." Avi says.

"In love?" Tim asks, sliding an arm around Avi's should.

"Yeah, maybe." Avi answers as he gets comfortable.

"Love each other, yes. But IN love with each, no. Austin is like my little brother, slash, best friend. We comforted each other when the world on the streets got too demanding." Tim says as he mindlessly rubbed his thumb up and down Avi's arm.

"Sooo, in other words, you made love." Avi clarifies.

"No. We had comforting sex." Tim answers as he closes his eyes.

"Oh." Avi replies, laying his head down on Tim's shoulder with a smirk on his face.
