ROAD TO NOWHERE

Chapter 34

Avi is awakened by a knocking on their hotel door.

"Just a minute." He calls out. He glances around at his lover who was sleeping soundly beside him.

Tim was so exhausted from their lovemaking, that the knocking did not even stir him. Avi grabs for his boxers and jeans and quickly slips them on before heading to the door.

"Hey, sorry to wake yall so early." Adam says as Avi opens the door. "But my uncle called and he really needs me back at work. Got several sick and one employee is out due to a death in the family."

"Oh, I hate to hear that but no, that's fine. I'll wake Tim and we'll get packed up." Avi says as he lets Adam into the room.

"Well, I was thinking that Austin and I could just fly back. It would be a lot faster." Adam says.

"Do you need us to drive you to the airport?" Avi asks.

"No, we have a uber ordered to come pick us up." Adam answers.

"Timmy up yet?" Austin asks as he appears in the doorway.

"No, but ..." Before Avi could answer Austin runs across the room and jumps on the bed.

"WAKEY, WAKEY!" He shouts as he jumps up and down.

"SH*T!" Tim yells as he springs into a sitting position. Pain hits him in his 'backside' causing him to groan out in pain and fall back into the bed.

"Oh, my God." Austin says falling to his knees beside his friend. "Did I hurt you?"

"No." Tim moans. "Avi did."

"Avi?" Austin asks as he gives the bearded man a questionable look.

"I, uh, was overcome with, uh ..." Avi says as he rubs the back of his neck.

"He f*cked the sh*t out of me last night." Tim groans as he tries to sit up.

"Oh, my God." Austin laughs. "Are you alright?"

"Do I look alright?" Tim asks in a sassy manner. "It felt amazing last night but I'm definitely paying for it now. Wait. What are yall doing here so early?"

"We stopped by to tell you that we're heading back to Texas. Adam's uncle needs him to come back to work." Austin explains as he sits down next to Tim on the bed.

"Yall are leaving?" Tim asks with a disappointing look.

"Yeah, we have a flight in a couple of hours." Austin says. "I'm sorry."

"I'm going to miss you, Freckles." Tim says as he pulls Austin into a tight hug.

"I'm going to miss you too. But yall need to head out to Minnesota. And I know you won't fly so it'll take you a while to get there." Austin says as he relaxes in Tim's arms. "And I know you well enough to know that you'll want to sightsee on the way."

"At least you guys got to see some sights." Tim says as he gently rubs Austin on the back.

"Yeah, it was amazing to see the Hollywood sign." Austin smiles. "But I need to get back anyway and check on that job. He's supposed to make a decision this week." 

"Well, I wish you luck." Tim says, kissing his friend on the forehead.

"Honey, we need to go. The uber will be here soon." Adam says. Hating to spoil the moment between the close friends. He knew how much Tim meant to Austin and how much Austin meant to Tim.

"Yeah, we gotta go." Austin says as he pulls away from Tim's embrace. "But yall keep in touch. Drive carefully. And Avi, good luck."

"Thanks. It still feels so unreal. I can't believe this is really happening." Avi smiles.

"Well, when you get rich and famous just don't forget your friends." Adam laughs.

"Absolutely." Austin says as he climbs off the bed. "And we expect free VIP tickets and backstage passes to all your shows."

"You got it." Avi chuckles as he hugs Austin good-bye.

Tim reaches for his boxers and slips them on. He walks over to Adam and gives him a hug.

"You take care of him, Adam. He's pretty special to me." Tim says quietly as he hugs the blond.

"I know." Adam nods. "It's my job now to take care of him."

"And I know he's in good hands." Tim smiles.

Tim and Avi finish getting dressed so they could walk down with Austin and Adam.

"Are you gonna make it?" Austin giggles at Tim's groans as he tries to walk.

"Oh, shut up." Tim smirks.

Tim and Avi stand quietly with their arms around each other's waist as they watch the newlyweds load their suitcases into the uber.

"Remember. Stay in touch." Austin says as he points his finger in Tim's face.

"I will." Tim chuckles.

"Better than you did last time?" Austin asks as he raises his brows.

"I promise." Tim laughs and hugs Austin again. "Love you."

"Love you, too." Austin says. He then hugs Avi. "Take care of him and don't be so rough next time."

"I'll try my best." Avi smiles.

They wave as the uber drives away.

"Are you alright?" Avi asks as he notices the sad look in Tim's eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Tim answers as he loses sight of the uber.

"Adam will take good care of him. You know that, right." Avi asks as he rubs Tim on the arm.

"Yeah, I know. It's good to see Austin so happy." Tim smiles as he pulls his lover into his arms. "What do you say, we take showers, go eat breakfast and then go visit with your parents a little while before we leave town?"

"Really?" Avi asks with a huge smile growing on his lips.

"Yep, we left pretty quickly and I'm sure they're wondering how things are going." Tim says as they make their way back into the hotel.

After showers and a big breakfast, they head over to the Kaplin Estate.

"I had no idea that you were this rich." Tim says as they pull into the circle drive of the mansion.

"I'm not. My parents are. Dummy me refused any help and wanted to make it on my own." Avi chuckles.

"You big dummy." Tim laughs as they get out of the car.

"I know, right?" Avi laughs, taking his lover by the hand as they walk up to the large double front doors. He rings the doorbell.

"Why are you ringing the doorbell?" Tim asks. He thought that Avi would just walk right in.

"I don't live here." Avi chuckles.

Micheal opens the door and a surprised look comes across his face.

"Avriel? Tim?" Micheal says in question form. A confused look comes across his face. "Tim, you bringing him back already?"
