Gabriel POV
'I don't even know him.' Sam's knee bounced up and down in nerves as he and Gabriel sat in front of Micheal's room.
'I just know he's Lucifer's best friend since forever and almost became my brother. Well,' Gabriel added, 'he was Lucifer's best friend. Empathize 'was'.' Sam gave him a quick look.
'Was?'
'They had a fight when they were taking care of the kids. Lucifer had let one of them go out at night and Micheal got angry because he wasn't supposed to. It escalated and, well, Lucifer and I left.' He looked at the dark window that gave into the unconscious boy's room. 'Micheal is normally a good guy but he was so stressed at that time and Lucifer just gets angry easily. I guess they both snapped.'
'I'm sorry.' Sam looked down and played with the leather bracelets on his wrists.
'For what?' Gabe made the mistake to look at him and got lost into how the hazel in the boys eyes shined in the afternoon sunlight.
'I dunno, but it can't have been easy... you know.' Gabe almost asked what he was talking about, his father dying, the fights between taking Lucifer and Micheal, having to take of his brothers or leaving. Instead he stretched out on the seat and laughed.
'Hey, don't give me that much credit. Living on the streets ain't easier kiddo, and, yet, here you are.'
'It was Dean who took care of us.' Sam explained, closing the subject quickly and it was followed by an awkward silence.
Gabe leaned in his knees and looked at Sam with a more concerned face. 'You slept okay last night?'
'Yeah, the nightmares have been staying away. I– uh, thanks. For that night.' Gabriel's eyes widened at the mention of it as he remembered playing with Sam's hair while the boy was still sleeping the morning after.
'No problem! I mean, yeah any time.' Gabriel cursed himself for sounding so excited.
Calm yourself or he's gonna know you love him.
Oh, wow. Love was a big word Gabriel had never bothered to use. The boy looked back at Sam who was back to playing with his bracelets.
Oh shit he was in love with him. Blush rose across his cheeks and he tried to remind himself he was here for a guy who was in a coma not a guy with perfect hair and perfect eyes and perfect jawline–
'Why don't we go and see him? I think they are done now. Are they done? I'm pretty sure they are done.' Gabriel's voice was about an octave higher as he jumped out of his chair and into the room.
Lucifer's POV (again, I know, I'm sorry)
The kids were everywhere.
His siblings were running down the halls of the run down house. One guy was on the shelf, leaning down and moving a long cord with a tennis ball tied at the end in front of a six year old who looked at it as if it was the best thing in the world. Another girl was swinging from a goddamn chandelier that used to be a beautiful lamp. She was singing, badly, the lines of Sia's song as she swung from one side to the other.
Lucifer remembered the time when Dad was still around and they were a somehow, normal and 'good' family.
Lucifer gave the room another glance and grinned, widely.
He preferred this family a lot more.
Balthazar lead him through the kids while shouting at each one of them to stop whatever the hell they were doing and come to the dinning room.
They all made their way to the room and picked a seat. The room was huge and messy as hell, not like it had been before.
The whole house was like that, thought. It used to be a huge house in the country side, really in the middle of nowhere. The walls and been all white and wooden, perfectly polished. Inside it had never had a hair out of place with richness shown in the decorations.
Now it was in ruins almost as no one took care of it: the wall paper was peeling, so windows were broken. The electricity didn't work anymore and there was dust everywhere. Chandeliers hung around the room because of some idiots who though they could swing form them and paintings that were probably rare and priceless, had been graffitied with mustaches and unibrows.
'Okay everyone! Hey, hey. No– no, no Noah don't you dare. Oh my god Alexander why would you do that you know how your sister gets when you pull her hair.' Balthazar sighed and looked back at Lucifer with a hopeless gaze. 'Micheal used to do this type of stuff.' Lucifer frowned at the mention of Micheal's name and stood up, slamming his hands on the table.
'Listen here you adorable shits!' Lucifer shouted and everyone shut up. They gave him a weird look as if they just realized he was here. Some of them frowned and whispered, looking around.
'Is that Lucifer?' One of them asked. There wasn't love or anything in the voice, more like, what-the-hell-is-he-doing-here? Lucifer swallowed, hard and nodded.
'Yeah. Yeah it's me, the asshole who left you. I'm sorry for that. You can all take turns punching me some other days. But, for now,' he pointed at Balthazar, 'listen to your brother.'
'Okay everyone!' Balthazar took back the control. 'We're gonna learn what fractions are. I don't care if some of you already learned them and some of you don't know what numbers are because I can't teach all of you at each of your paces so there we go. Okay. Imagine I've got a pizza. And I have three friends.'
'You don't have any friends!' A kid shouted out.
'Haha you are hilarious.' Balthazar said in the most British and sarcastic way. 'Okay, now what do I do?' A kid put her hand up and Balthazar nodded at her.
'You take the pizza and run.' She added with a satisfied smile.
Balthazar smiled and Lucifer followed. This was gonna be a long night.
Okay so this has a hundred reads which isn't that much but it's three numbers so I'll take it as a victory :DDD
Hope you enjoyed its kind of a happier chapter I guess
