School is great

There was only one thing worse than school, Dean thought. Starting school in the middle of the year because you were caught stealing. Top that with the school being specialized for  troublemakers and you being fresh meat.

'We are screwed.' his brother completed his thoughts.

As much as Dean would have loved to agree and add on how very screwed they were, he didn't. As the older brother, Dean figured, it was his duty to make sure they didn't enter into major depression and anxiety.

'No we aren't! Look, we're gonna get food, a roof over our heads and you might be able to actually learn something!' Dean almost gagged at the positivity coming out of his mouth but he kept a smile and slapped his hand on Sam's shoulder.

'But... it's school. And, I don't know. It's not just us anymore you know?' Sam said, his shoulders slumping. The kid had a good point, but again. Positivity. Not entering in major depression.

'Hey, Sammy. It's always gonna be you and me. Just because there are other people doesn't mean I'm gonna leave ya.' He gave a look to Sam. 'I promise okay? I'll never leave you. You're stuck with me, kiddo. Besides,' Dean cringed at the words, 'School is great.' The older brother gritted his teeth into a wider smile but Sam just raised his eyebrow.

'You suck at lying.' Sam started walking faster, making Dean run after him. 'Stupid tall people who walk fast,' he cursed. Sam wasn't that much taller than him, just a couple of inches, but something told Dean Sammy wasn't done growing. And Dean, well, he was done. He hadn't changed in the last three years.

'Not true! Remember that time when I got that lady to think we were lost? I got her to give us cookies and hot chocolate!' Dean bragged.

'We were lost.' Sam muttered. Dean turned to face him. It was his turn to raise his eyebrow, and some humor into the gesture.

'Ah, I must have lied so well even you believed it.'

'Well someone is overconfident today.' The cadet commented, shoving his hands in his pockets and shrugging Dean's hand off.

'Sammy, just... try smiling okay? We're safe, and yeah school sucks, but at least we don't have to steal anymore.' He showed an actual smile and saw Sam's eyes light up a bit.

'You know... I've always wanted to go to law school. I mean, you know, when I grow up.' Sam looked down at his shoes. He looked so small but he was so tall it was hard to take the 'innocent little boy' act seriously.

A laugh escaped out of Dean's lips and Sam looked up, surprised. It'd been a while since any of them had laughed. An actually laugh, not what Dean would pretend to do to make Sam feel better.

'What?'

'You are such a moose.' Dean playfully shoved Sam who gave him a shocked and offended look. Dean started running on the street towards the big black buildings. They'd been walking through the entire campus the whole time (because the author realized they'd been walking towards no where for a long ass time), making their way towards their dorms.

'What is that supposed to mean?' Sam shouted before running after him, both of them sprinting into the distance like a cliche movie.

~le time skip~

Dean let his bag bounce on his bed before shoving it off and letting himself fall and bounce off the bed.

A bed.

It had been so long since he'd slept on a bloody bed. And yes, you could feel the metal springs and it wasn't comfortable and the pillow was actually a stone and the blanket was actually just a big tissue. But it beat the floor and freezing at night any day.

He reached for the paper the man behind the desk had given him and Sam, with the dorm number and their schedules.

Stupid sons of bitches didn't put him and Sam in the same dorm, saying they 'wanted the brothers to get used to not always being together'.

'My ass 'not always together'.' He mumbled.

He'd stick to Sam through thick and thin, as long as his little brother needed him too, he would always be there. He'd always protect Sammy.

His dorm was simple and empty, only furnished with a bed, a closet and a desk. All the books he'd need were on the desk, some looked like they had already been used a couple of times to the least but dean didn't mind. He had no idea what any of it meant anyways.

Oh, and everything that was on his side of the room? There was a practically identical set up on the other side, hinting dean he wouldn't be alone in this room for long. The man had said Dean was alone, for the time being, but, he had a feeling some other fresh meat would soon be joining him. But that was fine by him, living on the streets taught a person how to share everything and anything they owned.

He got up and put his few belongings into his closet and before grabbing a towel and making his way to the shower rooms; dinner was in an hour and if he knew one thing, it was that on first impressions, it was a 'go big or go home' situation. If he wanted to keep him and his brother safe in a school of troublemakers, he'd have to impress them and win their respect quickly.

Yoooooooo it's my first fanfiction and that is why it is bad. Shout out too MrsCryingPotato for freaking out with me as I tried to figure the plot of the story. Also don't worry, I'll change the POVs around and their will be more characters introduced later on :))))) have a nice day/night/what?
