Friday
Hanna sits in the penalty box watching her brothers skate around the rink."I should be in there," Hanna says under her breath annoyed. "It's not a Malloy play with out the fifth Malloy."
Indeed it was not a Malloy play without her, and her team having the short hand was not making her feel better.
While she sat in the penalty box and watched the midtown musketeers dominate with their power play she couldn't help but feel bad.
She felt as if she was disappointing her brothers."37 more seconds," she kept counting down to herself.
And those seconds went quickly.
Hanna skated out on to the ice more furiously than ever and she had a glint of madness in her eye. Gunner could even see it from his spot in the goal."Keep it cool Han," he yelled out to her as she took her position. "Don't let your anger get to you."
Turn it into something else Hanna thought to herself. Take the anger and turn it into something else.
"Malloys!" her father shouted out, "you know what to do."
Jack and Hanna looked at each other and nodded reassuring one another.
Jett got the puck and passed it to Stryker.
Stryker went into neutral territory and passed it to Jack.Jack went into the Musketeer territory and got dangerously close to getting off sides called on him. Stupid boy, she thought as she went to go help him.
Hanna skated quickly up with him and in one swift motion Jack passed it to her. Oh no.
"Ok this is it, do or die," Hanna said to herself as she shot for the goal. She thought it went in.
When she heard the clanging sound of metal her heart sank, goalpost.
A collection of "awws" in disappointment sounded throughout the arena and Hanna wanted to sob.
The buzzer sounded and that was the game, the Malloy's had ended their winning streak and tied 3-3.
Hanna did not sleep that night.
Saturday
Saturday's practice had Hanna tired out. Her father had been working her extra hard for screwing up the winning streak. Her brothers had tried comforting her but deep down she knew they were just as mad as her father.
Hanna skated up to Jett after shooting a few goals. "How am I doing?" she asked nervously.
"Killing it, Han," he said smiling. Stryker skated up to them too.
"Keep working on rebounding from the hit and there will be five Malloy's on Varsity," Stryker inquired.
The three smiled at each other and skated back to the try outs. Hanna was the only Malloy not on Varsity and she planned to change that.
If she made it on Varsity not only would she get more playing time but she would get to represent Canada with her brothers at the Junior Goodwill Games in Los Angles U.S.A.
Hanna smiled slightly at the thought but snapped out of it when a puck came at her face. She stuck her glove covered hand in front of her face and caught it.
"Good girl!" Jett yelled out as she threw it to the ice and passed it to Jack. But Jack passed it back wanting to give her the chance to impress their father.
