Kristina's POV:
I was woken up by my alarm going off. I checked the time, 9:45. I sigh and then check the date on my phone, it's July 26th and school starts back up in a little less than a month. Ugh. I get up out of bed and head down stairs only to see my brother watching tv and my mom making us breakfast. I walk over to her and see that she's making my favorite, waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. I stand there with my jaw dropped. She sees me and just laughs, I smile back and give her a big hug, "Thanks mom" I say. She says "no problem sweetheart" then serves me some on a plate and I go sit down at our kitchen table. After I'm done eating, I go upstairs and try to think of what I'm going to wear today when McKenna barges into my room. She gave me no time to say anything, she just started speaking. "KRISTINA THEY POSTED ANOTHER ONE!" She said basically screaming at the top of her lungs. "What?" I said. She continued saying "JOEY AND TAYLER JUST POSTED ANOTHER YOUTUBE VIDEO!" I just gave her a small smile and said "oh cool". McKenna is in love with those two, but she's obsessed with that Joey kid, I honestly don't know why. I mean, their videos are funny I guess, but I'm not a big fan like she is. I don't hate them either, they're okay. I checked my phone again, the time being 10:19, and saw that I had gotten a text from Jessica. Jessica is one of McKenna and I's best friends from school.
Jessica (bold) ; Kristina (regular)
J: Hey what are you and McKenna doing today?
K: We're trying to figure that out, but we don't have any plans why?
J: Well do you want to do something together today?
K: Sure, where do you want to meet?
J: Meet me at the park in 30 minutes
K: alright byeee :')
J: byeee :)
*end of conversation*
After I end the conversation with Jess, I tell McKenna and we start getting ready. I end up wearing a striped black and white tank top with black jean shorts and converse. I curl my hair and braid a strand back.
McKenna's POV:
After Kristina tells me about meeting up with Jessica at the park, I start to get ready. I end up wearing a baby blue crop top with white jean shorts and vans. I straighten my hair and then put on a headband. After I'm done, I head over to Kristina's room to see her on her phone.
Kristina's POV:
After I was finished, I got on my phone and started scrolling through instagram. I went to the search bar and typed in '@itsjoeybirlem'.
I saw his most recent post which was of him and his friend Tayler. I was about to like it when McKenna came in my room, so I quickly put it down and acted as if everything was normal.
McKenna's POV:
When she sees me, she quickly puts her phone down and acts like nothing happened. I just decided to ignore it since we had to leave in less than 5 minutes. We go downstairs to check with her mom about leaving. She told us we were allowed and to be back by 5:00pm for dinner. I was about to walk out the door when Kristina stopped me and gave me a smirk. I answered her with a confused look, she leaves me there and darts back up to her room.
Kristina's POV:
McKenna was about to walk out when I stopped her and gave her a smirk. She looked a little confused, but she'd find out what I meant soon enough. I quickly run back up to my room and grab both of our penny boards. I walk back down the stairs and see McKenna waiting for me. When she sees me, she immediately notices the two penny boards that I have in my hands, and gives me the biggest grin possible. "Good thinking b" she says winking, I wink back and we both laugh. We hop on our penny boards and head out of the door.
*skip ride to park* (still Kristina's POV)
When we get to the park, I see Jess waiting for us on the swings. We have fun and play like little kids chasing each other around the playground until we realize that it's already 4:55 so McKenna and I have to head home.
We all say our goodbyes and McKenna and I ride on our boards while I listen to her talk about Joey the whole 7 minutes it takes to get there. I go up to the front door and open it. I walk in to the smell of my other favorite food, fettuccini alfredo. As I step into the kitchen, my mom greets us and tells us to sit down because she needs to talk to us. I shoot a glance at McKenna to see that she's already looking at me. She gives us each a worried expression and then says "we're moving to North Carolina in two days".
I thought about what this meant..
New neighborhood.
New school.
New friends.
Crap.
