"And then he said, 'I identify as neither male or female so I identify as a washing detergent.' I seriously died." Izzy said laughing. I was laughing so hard my stomach was hurting."It's not the first time Mason's been confused." I said, wiping away tears at the corners of my eyes.
"That was so long ago, shut up Izzy." Mason said, rolling his eyes.
"Last weekend wasn't that long ago, Mason." She said. They continued bickering while I ate my Nutella sandwich. Lunch isn't long enough to get into their conversation AND eat so I decided to eat. I took a sip of water and looked through my lunchbox. Yes, I'm a senior in high school and I still bring my lunchbox, don't judge. I smiled when I found a pack of princess gummies. Oh how I love these things. I plopped a pink one in my mouth and relived the childhood memories.
"You're gonna share those, right?" Mason asked, pointing to my gummies.
"Hell naw." I said and ate a blue one.
"Please." He begged, giving me a puppy face. It's the cutest thing. His eyebrows were raised and scrunched together. His lips were drawn into a dramatic frown and his big brown eyes completed the look. I caved in.
"What princess?" I sighed.
"Belle, of course." He said in a high voice making me laugh. I pulled out a yellow one and he opened his mouth. I threw it in and he began chewing.
"Thanks best friend." He said.
"You're welcome best friend." I said smiling.
"Barf, just get a room already." Izzy said, rolling her eyes. I gave her an irritated glance and put all my trash in the plastic bag my sandwich was in. We stood up and threw away our trash. We exchanged goodbyes and Izzy and I walked to the library. We sat down and I scrolled through my phone.
"I found this on the floor over there, near those bookshelves and it has your name on it." A familiar voice said from behind me. I turned around, Luke. Oh god he looks good today. He was wearing a blue button up shirt, unbuttoned, and a basketball tshirt underneath with some khakis. His vans were untied and his messy hair was sexy as always. I noticed an expensive looking earring in his ear I hadn't seen before. I'm falling so hard for this guy it hurts to look at his gorgeous body.
"Thanks, Sarah had to drive me to school this morning." I said, rolling my eyes and grabbing the keychain from his large hand. Our fingers touched, sending lightning bolts through my body. Oh boy. He suddenly started smiling and began to walk off.
"See you around Kirsten Owen." He said as he walked away. I sat there smiling at his retreating figure. I haven't felt this before, my stomach erupting in butterflies. It's new.
"You like him." Izzy said. I forgot she was here.
"And why would you think that?" I asked.
"The way you look at each other, he likes you too."
"Why would someone like me, like someone like him and vice versa?" I asked. Why would someone like him like someone like me?
"I don't know Kirsten but it's obvious." She said and I rolled my eyes. I worked on some homework. Ugh calculus is so complicated. Why is it even a subject?
"Oh my god." Izzy gasped.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"Samantha and Luke broke up last night." She said. I felt relieved. Is it a coincidence that he broke up with her the night he drove me home? What? No no no, I felt nothing. I feel nothing towards Luke. I feel nothing towards Luke. Now I'm lying to myself.
