Claudia and her mother arrived at the funeral they noticed that the place was packed. Once the car was parked they both got out and walked in the building in silence. As Claudia's mother was giving her condolences, Claudia slowly walked up to the casket that held Karlee. She couldn't believe that she looked so peaceful and happy. She knew by that smile that was back with her sister. She couldn't stop the tears of happiness and sadness as she thought of that. She was pulled out of her thoughts when a hand on her shoulder. She turned and saw her mom standing next to her. She frowned her brows in confusion. But decided to let it go.
"What was she like?"
"She was very loving, nurturing, and most of all trusting. During the last few months she started to talk more and more about her sister that died years ago. Now seeing her lay here with a smile on her face makes me feel better knowing that she is now happily back with her sister." Claudia told her in a awe tone, as she looked at the body.
Just then one of Karlee's grandchildren walked over to Claudia and taps on her shoulder. Claudia turns around and sees Cloe. They smile as Cloe hands Claudia an envelope with her name on it. After thanking her Cloe walks away. Claudia looks at the envelope and then to her mother.
"Open it."
Claudia hesitantly opens the envelope to reveal a letter. Claudia then read the letter all while standing by Karlee's coffin.
Dear Claud,
I know my time here on this earth is coming to an end and because of this I want to cover my tracks and leave no stones unturned. I didn't want to leave this earth without saying goodbye and telling you how much you mean to me. You have been a treasure and I enjoyed your company. I love you like one of my own and will always appreciate what you have done for me. You may find this hard to believe but you are loved more than you know. I know your home life and love life are not so great at the moment but I promise that it will get better.
As for me don't worry about anything. Don't even cry over me I'm not worth it. Don't waste your time grieving over me either I am in good hands. My sister has always taken care of me and will continue to do so after I am gone. I just want you to be happy and live your life. Don't be afraid to try new things and let your guard down. But mostly follow your heart and it will not ever leave you astray. Take the stories I told you and apply them to your real life and you will be fine. I believe in you!
All my love,
Karlee
Claudia folded up the letter and put it back in the envelope and closed it up. She cried happy tears and placed a kiss on the top of Karlee's head.
"You are most welcome Karlee. Thank you for everything. I love you." Was all she was able to say as her tears slipped down her cheek and then Claudia left the funeral with her mother following.
She was told by the family that she would be buried by her sister in the family cemetery which was a few miles up the road.
"I am sorry about your friend." Her mother finally spoke.
"It's okay." She told her wiping away her stray tears.
"Are you going to be okay?" She asked.
"Yeah." After a Pause and thinking over the letter and looking up at the sun shining down on her she then smiled and said, "Yeah im going to be fine."
