The war was finally over and Loki, Thor, and his comrades went back to Asgard. But Loki's mind wasn't on Asgard or their recent victory. He was more focused on the women he left back on earth. It wasn't long until they were all back and walking on the rainbow bridge back to the palace. He looked at the sky and he saw a butterfly that reminded him of her. He paused from walking for a while to look at it. Everyone kept walking on. Thor turned around and walked up to him. Everyone else kept walking as well.
Thor walked up to Loki. "I cannot thank you enough for your help in the war brother."
He says nothing.
"Brother, I will tell father of what you did and I'm sure he will let you stay."
He looked at him and still said nothing. "That's what you want right?" Thor said happily.
Loki nodded hesitantly and looked back up at the butterfly. Their turned around ready to leave, "You know the gatekeeper can see all right?"
Loki remembered but he wasn't sure he wanted to see what she was doing. Maybe she had moved on and found someone new, he couldn't handle it. That's why he wouldn't open that window portal to see her. But then again he wanted a reason to not go back, a reason to get her out of his mind, even though he knew deep down it would never work. As he was thinking, Thor went back to the palace with his friends.
Loki, determined, turned around and walked over to the gatekeeper. The gatekeeper looked at him.
"How's she doing?" Loki asked, bluntly.
"The human girl?" He asked, jokingly, already knowing.
Loki shook his head yes.
After a moment of the gatekeeper looking off into the distance, "She misses you."
THREE DAYS LATER....
Loki was summoned to the throne room. He walked in and saw once again his "father" sitting in his throne with Thor standing right beside him wearing his armor. As Loki gets closer Odin gets up and walks down two out of the seven steps. Loki stops a few feet away from the steps and kneels down.
"Loki, I have summoned you here today to extend my gratitude for helping your home win the war. And as a token of my gratitude I will allow you to stay in Asgard not as a prisoner but as my son again."
Odin walks down the stairs completely and Loki gets up, "I am even going to make you captain of the guard."
Loki smiles a tight smile and gives a slight nod but can't shake the feeling in his chest. A feeling he didn't know until after he left her. He thought about taking the offer and when he did he promised himself he would always remember her and how her hair blown in the wind, the different faces she made with different emotions, even the way she calls him out on his crap.
It was finally all clear to him now. The reason why he loved to be around her and hated seeing her sad. The reason why he hated the thought of her being with any other guy. The reason he cant picture his life without her is because he was in love. He couldn't take the job. Loki looks down.
Odin notices his sudden sadness, "What is wrong son?"
"Its nothing father. I am very honored by your proposal, but..."
"But?" Odin asked.
"I'm afraid I must decline." Loki said looking back up at him feeling confident in his answer.
Odin shocked, but not mad, "Why my boy?"
"Because I'm in love." Loki told his father who was just as surprised as he was that he actually would admit that to someone. Thor laughed to himself and thought finally.
