Chapter 2
Just Haven’t Met You Yet
Her friend looked like she was about to pass out, granted; I suppose if the situation was reversed, Hjalmarasson probably would have looked like that too.
“I… I…” She stuttered and then blinked, looking first at her friend, then right into my eyes. “I would love to!” she smiled, and then her face fell in an instant, as she again glanced at her friend. “But only if Maisey can come too... I don’t know you very well, and think it would be better to have someone that I know with me.”
I considered this for a moment and agreed. It was a perfectly logical reason. And not only that but she was right, she didn’t know me very well, at least that was what I thought.

When we got to the party at Tazer’s, Chevelle and her friend seemed to be lost, like they didn’t have any idea what it was that they were doing or why they had agreed to come with me in the first place. I would also like to add that an already drunk Patrick Kane was not helping me in the least bit.
“Hey Crow, who’s the babe?” He asked me, slurring his words just ever so slightly, Jonny was going to make him do extra laps for that later, I would make sure of it.
“Kaner, leave them alone. They aren’t the toys that you’re used to. They actually have feelings.” I told him as he steadied himself on the kitchen counter.
“Whatever you say, Goalie Mann,” he said walking away.
I looked over to the girls smiling, just to make sure someone like Sharp wasn’t pestering them. I loved the guy but he liked to annoy all the girls.
I noticed that Chevelle was just chilling on Jonathan’s couch, talking to my backup goalie, Antti Raanta. She looked intrigued but bored at the same time so I started to make my way over to her, when she turned to me and just gave me the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. She had her head back laughing and her eyes were bright and mysterious, it was truly a beautiful sight.
“Hey Antti, Hey Chevelle, how’s it coming? I asked the two of them. I caught a drink in Chevelle’s hand as well.
“Good! I was just getting to know your back up a little better!” Chevelle said, standing up and offering a smile to Antti. “I’ll see you around Raanta!”
“So are you enjoying yourself” I asked her, just to make conversation.
“I am. I never thought I would be in a place like this.” She said, looking to her friend who happened to be very red in the face while talking to Andrew Shaw.
“Good. I’m happy I got to meet you, Chevelle. Honestly.” I said to her as I tenderly picked up her hands, feeling sparks as I did so.
She felt them too, as her face went red and her eyes grew wide, she fought back a smile. “I thought that things like this only happened in dreams. I never thought that in a million years I would be standing in an apartment owned by Jonathan Toews, holding hands with my favorite player as he tells me he’s happy to have met me. Especially after messing up his game.”
My thumbs just lightly caressed where her index finger and her thumb met as I spoke. “I never thought I would lose focus over a girl. I knew one day one would come and sweep me off my feet, but I didn’t think it would be this bad.”
“Are you insinuating that you like me, Mr. Crawford?”
I looked around the room as if I had heard my name being called, and then realized that I let that puck through to the back of the net as well. She knew. I couldn’t believe it either since I had legitamentally just met her but hey, love is love, right?
“I suppose I am Miss Chevelle…? Uh..? You never gave me your last name, Chevelle.” I said upon realizing that I didn’t even know her whole name.
She chuckled and said “My boy, its Dagger.” Upon saying her last name she smirked, most likely seeing the irony of her word choice.
“Well Miss Dagger, I would like to ask you something,” I said, knowing that if I didn’t do this now, I would lose her for good.
“Well what is it, Mr. Crawford?”
“I would like to ask you out on a date. Just to dinner and maybe we can rent a movie or something.”
Her beautiful blue eyes lit up, and she smiled broadly. “Of course, Corey! I would love to!”
I couldn’t help it. I looked at her with a mysterious grin on my own face before I picked her up by the waist and just spin her around, and she laughed as I did so.
“Corey! Put me down!” She yelled, all while laughing.
I put her down a few minutes later and when I did, as she gently fell down my shoulder, fully knowing that at this point I was skating on dangerously thin ice, I kissed her.
