~Prologue~

Our world revolves around numbers. A cold, unfeeling system that humans have been working on since so many years ago, but not even we can fully control the results of what these figures turn out to be. How smart we are, how capable we are, how reliable we are, how old we are, even time itself seems to rely upon a scale that the average human being cannot fully comprehend. We seem contingent to the invention of this numerical system, using it in our everyday lives. It takes first priority in our school education hand-in-hand with science, while English and history take the much less imperative roles. I'm not complaining with that fact, however, since the higher paying fields are in the fields of math and science, not to mention Earth does function properly because of these calculated figures.

Yet, the question remains, why do we give these emotionless integers so much power in our everyday lives? This is simply because numbers are not human. They cannot lie. It's a stable ground for our reality to settle on since they are always honest, always accurate, and never biased. Unlike the creators of these digits, they cannot steal, abuse, or house prejudices. They simply make sense of the data given to them. That's what makes numbers amazing.

However, what if our world revolved in a different way? Our reality built on a much more shaky foundation? What if our world was dependent on words? The words of people who can lie. Who can steal, abuse, and house prejudices? Our planet contingent on men whose tongues are biased, deceitful, and lack in accuracy? How different would our world be? Would it be for better? For worse? Feelings would have much more of an impact on our ways, but could that have a negative effect? How much of a contrast could their be between a world filled with numbers and a world filled with words?
