A World Filled with Words

Chapter 3

I'm not sure what I'm doing right now. Then again, when have I ever been sure of what I was doing?  Never. So, really, I guess this isn't really anything new. Though, stepping outside for the first time in years is new. So is running after a random stranger who just happened to have peeked through my window. Yeah, I guess today is pretty new.

Despite the uncertainty I was harboring, my body seemed pretty keen on catching up to this unknown person. My legs felt like a blur as I ran with everything I had, hoping to catch up to him. I guess I was caught up in all the excitement of the chase, because I started to imagine myself as a ship, my sails billowing with the wind, propelling me towards my destination. I navigated through the treacherous waters of the sea, sailing through the unrelenting waves and mighty storms, not letting anything stop me.  In that moment, I escaped from reality. I was strong, invincible, independent. I was my own person. Nothing, nor anybody, could stop me. 

"What is that girl doing?" My ship began to slow down.

No.

"She's weird." My ship sprung a leak.

Stop.

"She looks so stupid." I panicked and tried to stop the leak.

Please.

"Isn't that the girl who doesn't go to school? What's she doing out of her rat hole?" I couldn't stop the leak. The ship began to flood.

I'm begging you.

"Ew, she looks disgusting!" I was drowning.

Just leave me alone!

"What a freak! Seriously, why show your face in public!?" My ship had sunk.

My vision turned dark. I was no longer a ship, I was no longer strong or invincible, I was alone and vulnerable once again.

JAMES POV

"JAMES! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO THE POOR KID!?" Victoria yelled at me, pointing at the girl lying on the ground. Victoria really needed to stop jumping to conclusions so quickly. I did absolutely nothing! In fact, I was the victim here! She just went and collasped on her own after making a mad dash for me, and I was kind enough to drag her to our camp! She should be complimenting me on my generosity right now, not shrieking at me!

"Dont blame me! I just glanced through her window and suddenly she was running after me like a madwoman! I feared for my life you know!" I threw my hands up in exasperation, trying to get my point across. Of course it didn't.

"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU LOOK THROUGH A GIRL'S WINDOW!?" Dang it. She was gone, past all reason, only Tylea could calm her down now. The aforementioned girl was leaning on a log, snickering. I sighed. Typical. I had to fend for myself.

"Her window had METAL BARS over it! Like the one they put in JAILS! Sue me for being just a LITTLE CURIOUS!" I was screaming back now, an action that solved nothing and something I hated to do. It also made Victoria even more angry. I tried to save myself from her wrath by throwing a cover.  'I mean, maybe she was locked up for a reason! You should've seen her! She's insane!" I shook my head. " But not as insane as you're being right now..." Realizing what I had done, I looked up just in time to see VIctoria's eyes widen in shock.  Shit. Did I really just say that thought out loud?

My face was horrified. Victoria's face was crazed. Tylea's face was delighted. If I had feared for my life before, I was terrified for it now. " AND A HUGE, GIANT FUCK TO YOU JAMES!" She was ready to pounce, and I was ready to run. Why did I seem to be attracting all the crazies today?

Finally, Tylea cut in, still laughing hysterically. I was so relieved she found my life in peril so hilarious. If you didn't sense the sarcasm in that statement, you need some help. "Alright, Alright, as funny as this is, we need James alive. He's pretty useless dead." She giggled, patting Victoria's shoulder. Nice to hear the true, heartfelt words she was using to describe me. I really felt love radiating off of them.

"Well it's true, your corpse would be useless to us. We wouldn't even be able to eat you because you're so bony!" She smiled, turning around to face me. I really despised it when she read my thoughts. There was really no privacy here, my head was just a public restroom for her to walk in and out of as she pleases. She smirked, twirling her wild black curls as she looked into my mind. Again. "Well, sorry, but you're kind of unreadable sometimes. I just want to know what you're thinking, you know? Though, I disagree. I think your head is more like a library. I mean, It's filled with knowledge, and it's so organized!" Once again, she was snickering. Sh really found my pain amusing.

I was so done with this little episode and I had started to walk away to try to cool off when Victoria's voice interrupted me midstep. "Guys! I think she's awake!"

AN:

HUGE SHOUTOUT TO MY REAL LIFE FRIENDS TYLEA VICKY AND JAMES! YA'LL ROCK! And sorry I kind of made your character the one that got picked on James.. I'll make it up to you next chapter James! Promise! (Not really) Anyways this was longer than my other chapters and I feel kinda happy with it. I mean it doesn't suck, right!? Though the dialogue felt a little rushed.. or maybe too slow? I don't know, this is my first real story so this is a learning experience for me. With that said,  some points I'd like to cover

This story took an unexpected turn I never really meant to take, but I thought it would be fun and I felt like it

I use way too many commas, I AM TRYING

My paragraphs get messed up a lot

IMPORTANT I wrote in present tense the last few chapters I think, but it just felt awkward to write, so I switched to past tense this chapter. I HOP AROUND DIFFERENT TENSES A LOT AND LIKE THE COMMAS I AM TRYING
