Why me?

I was sprinting down the to great hall, obviously late.
"There you are!" Luna yelled as I sat down on the bench trying to catch my breath
"Thanks for waking me" I huffed out
"Sorry but you looked so peaceful sleeping" cho laughed.
"Do I look peaceful now?" I asked making them both laugh.
"Elena look" cho whispered in my ear. I followed her finger and saw Cedric diggory staring at me. I felt my breath hitch and my cheeks flush. He really was cute. His hazel eyes were fixed on mine.
"Told you he is intrigued by you" Luna's dreamy voice echoed in my head making me turn away from Cedric's intense stare.
"No he isn't" I started
"Elena really we all saw how you 2 were staring at each other" cho laughed
"I don't know" I sighed
"Come on lets go to DADA" Luna said grabbing my arm and pulling me up. I waved goodbye to cho and followed Luna out of the great hall.
"It's strange" Luna said
"What is?" I asked
"The nargles are not lurking around the castle like usual" she said. I have been best friends with Luna since first year and I still don't know nor have seen any nargles. But I love her anyways. It's sad to see how many people make fun of Luna just because she is different. I think it makes her special. Luna has always been like a sister to me and if people gave her a chance instead of judging what's on the inside I know they would love her just as much as I do.
"I don't know Luna" I laughed at her comment. We turned the corner giggling about "nargles" when I completely body slammed into someone. It must be a man because it felt like running into a brick wall. The impact knocked me back on my butt and caused me to let out a small scream.
"Hey!" I yelled holding my head
"Oh um my bad I am sorry I didn't see you there. Here" the person said, yep defiantly a boy. I looked up and caught the eyes of Cedric diggory... great. I took his hand he offered and he pulled me to my feet, wow he is really strong.
"Your Elena" he smiled
"Yeah" I whispered
"I am Cedric" he smiled
"I know. Uh I mean... hi" I said nervously
"Are you alright?" He asked
"Yeah I am fine sorry about that" I said awkwardly
"No problem. Hey you are pretty good at transfiguration right?" He asked
"Yeah i would say so" I said
"Well I am having some trouble would you mind tutoring me... tonight in the library maybe?" He asked
"Um yeah sure... tonight then" I said giving a small smile
"Tonight then... Elena" he smiled walking away
"Cedric" I whispered
"Oh my gosh!" Luna squealed I totally forgot she was here
"It's nothing Luna" I said rolling my eyes
"Oh it's defiantly something" she laughed
"Come on we can't be late" I said pulling her towards the greenhouse.
The first half of the day went by slow and uneventful.
"Cho! Did you hear!" Luna yelled running into the great hall for lunch
"Hear about what?" Cho asked
"Elena has a date with Cedric tonight!" Luna squealed
"What!!" Cho yelled
"It's not a date. I am just tutoring him" I sighed sitting down
"In what?" Cho asked
"Transfiguration" I said taking a bite of my food. I heard cho start laughing so hard it sounded like she was going to die
"I am sorry... it's just... he doesn't need tutoring" she laughed even harder
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Elena he is top of his class" cho laughed again
"He said he was having trouble" i told her
"Oh he isn't he just wants to spend time with you" cho said calming down
"Has it even occurred to you maybe he IS having trouble" I stated
"Fat chance" cho snickered
"Whatever" I laughed
"Speaking of the hot Hufflepuff here he comes" Luna whispers
"Good afternoon cho, Luna. Mind if I steal Elena for a moment?" Cedric said standing in front of me.
"Oh we don't mind at all" cho smirked
"Elena would love to... right Elena" Luna said hitting me in the arm
"Um yeah sure... I'll see you guys later" I said quietly standing up
"Shall we?" Cedric smiled
"Uh, yeah" I said giving a smile. I followed Cedric out of the hall and around the corridors.
"So um what do you need Cedric?" I asked breaking the silence.
"I thought we were scheduled to study tonight?" I followed
"We are I just would like to get to know you before... is that alright?" He asked
"Yeah sure" I said softly
"So tell me about yourself" he smiled
"Well my name is Elena Black I am 16. My parents are Sirius and Melanie Black. My father was in Azkaban for something he didn't do and my mother was killed when I was 2. My godparents Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks raised me. Then well I came here got sorted into ravenclaw like my mother and met cho and Luna and they became my best friends. I play quidditch, chaser. And well like transfiguration" I said simply
"Interesting" Cedric smiled
"What about you?" I smiled lightly hitting his arm
"Nothing much only child of Amos and Cathleen Diggory. My father works for the ministry and my mother died giving birth to me. I play quidditch. Hufflepuff team captain and seeker. And well that's about it" he sighed
"Cedric what is it you want with me... I mean usually people run or are afraid of me because of well... my father" I asked quietly
"I am not afraid of you Elena. Just so you know I never believed all that about your father" he laughed stopping and leaning against the wall.
"You-you didn't?" I smiled
"No. When he came into the school a few years ago and rumors went around that he was coming for his daughter I knew he wasn't a bad guy. A man who escaped Azkaban just to come and get his only daughter isn't a bad man. He is a father. If it was me I would do the same thing" he said not looking away from my eyes.
"Yeah" I whispered feeling a blush on my cheeks.
"Well I best be off... I'll see you tonight" Cedric said giving me his winning smile.
"Bye Cedric" I smiled
"Bye Elena" he smiled as turned around and walked away. Did I just tell Cedric diggory about my life?
"Elena there you are!" Cho said running in my direction
"Come on" cho said grabbing my arm and dragging me behind him
"Cho slow down" I laughed
"Snape will kill us if we are late" she said running faster
"Ok ok I am coming!" I laughed running behind her.
"Black, Chang you are late" snape said shutting the door just after me and cho ran in.
"By like a second!" I sighed
"What was that mrs black?" He stared
"Uh um nothing" I said sheepishly
"Just like your father" I heard him mumble
"Come on" cho whispered dragging me to the back
"Did he say something about your dad?" She asked
"Yeah... he said I was just like him" I whispered
"What has your father got to do with any of this?" Cho asked
"I have no idea" I said glaring at snape. I love my father but sometimes I hate being his daughter. His reputation reflects onto me.dad and snape never got along in school. Dad was always the person that gave snape the most grief... along with uncle Remus, petter and James Harry potters dad.
"Elena is that your owl at the window?" Cho whispered pointing to the window.
"Hermes?" I asked
"Class dismissed" I heard snape say. I ran and opened the window quickly retreating the letter
"Hermes really? Now?" I asked.
"Come on Elena hurry!" Cho said grabbing my arm and went to meet up with Luna.
"Good afternoon how was potions?" Luna asked
"It's snape what do you expect" I sighed
"Who is the letter from" Luna said pointing to the letter. I glanced at the penmanship and recognized it immediately.
"My father!" I smiled widely ripping it open.

My dearest Elena,
I am sorry it has taken me this long to write you. Harry has been keeping me busy. I know school has just started but I miss you already. The house is very quiet without you puppy. How is your 6th year going? I hope it is well. You let me know if anyone is giving you any trouble, especially Snape.
Please be careful Elena ever since the death eater attack I have been hesitant to send oh away where I can't protect you. I know you are a brave and talented witch, you are your mother and mines daughter after all.
I must go now, be safe my darling. Tell Luna and Cho I said hello.I love you so much my puppy

I smiled at the words my father wrote. I miss him so much.
"Is everything alright?" Luna asked
"Yeah dad just misses me. He says hello to both of you" I smiled
"Hello mr black!" Luna smiled
"Luna you know he can't hear you" cho laughed
"I know" she smiled.
The rest of the day went by slowly and soon enough it was time for my tutoring session with Cedric.
I walked into the library and saw Cedric already there reading a transfiguration book
"Ready?" I asked
"Totally" he smiled moving the book in between us.
"You know I am thinking of entering the tournament" Cedric said taking a break from the transfiguration lessons.
"What tournament?" I asked
"You didn't hear?" Cedric asked giving me a look. I shook my head no.
"The tri wizard tournament is being hosted at hogwarts this year. Anyone over the age of 17 can enter their name in the cup but he will give us farther details next week when the other 2 schools arrive." He explained
"Isn't that dangerous?" I asked
"Yeah but what's life without a little risk" Cedric winked at me
"I guess you are right" I laughed
"Shall we?" He smirked gesturing toward the book. I nodded and laughed at how cheeky he is. Cedric was doing a perfect job in everything. He knew everything I know, he was brilliant.
"Great Cedric!" I smiled as he changed a car back into a book.
"Well you are a great teacher" he smiled
"You really didn't need tutoring did you" I said quietly looking at him
"No. No I didn't" he said looking down
"Why?" I gasped
"I wanted to spend time with you" he said looking into my eyes
"But why? I am a black and I am just...me" I said in the brink of tears.
"What do you want with me?" I sighed
"What do I want with you? I just want to be here for you. I don't care if you are a Black, you are still Elena to me. And why you? Why wouldn't it be you? You are beautiful" he whispered the last part and grabbing my hand. I felt my skin tingle where his skin was on mine.
"Cedric" I whispered
"Shhh don't try to fight me on this... you are beautiful" Cedric said placing his hand on my cheek making me look at him
"You really are cheeky pretty boy diggory" I smirked
"What can I say I can't help it" he winked, making me laugh
"Come on I beat get you back to Ravenclaw before Cho and Luna come looking for us" Cedric said smiling and standing up, not letting go of my hand.
"Cedric do me a favor..." I said as we walked back to the Ravenclaw tower
"And what is that?" He asked
"Think long and hard about your decision to enter in the tournament" I said I truly didn't want him to get hurt.
"I will for you" he smiled.
"Well this is it" I smiled at the portrait.
"Well thank you for the tutoring tonight" he smiled taking both of my hands.
"You didn't need it" I laughed
"True. But maybe next time we can see each other without all the books and lessons?" He asked.
"Yeah of course" I smiled at the ground hiding my blush.
"Well goodnight then Elena" Cedric said binding down and adding a kiss on my cheek, making me blush more.
"Goodnight Cedric" I smiled.
Well tonight was... unexpected.
