Champions

"Come on Elena I want to see who puts their name in!" Luna said dragging me into the hall
"Luna it's the last day everyone has put their name in already" I laughed
"Not everyone!" She yelled as we took a seat on the benches
"Has Cedric entered?" Luna asked
"Not that I know of" I smiled
"Are you? You are 17" she smiled
"Oh no! These type of things are not my thing" I quietly laughed
"What eternal glory is not your thing?" She laughed sitting next to me
"Nope more yours... but too bad you don't turn 17 until next month" I said pretending to be sad and wiping a fake tear from my cheek
"Ha ha you are so funny" cho said lightly pushing me making me laugh.
"Oi cho! Someone's staring at you" I smirked noticing Harry potters intense gaze
"Is that Harry Potter?" I smirked
"Stop or Elena" cho said blushing and hiding her face
"What's wrong cho can't handle the chosen one fancies you" I winked
"Can't handle the prettiest boy in school liking you" she smirked back at me
"Hey that's different! Cedric does not fancy me" I blushed. Suddenly the doors bursts open and a large group of what looks like Hufflepuffs run in.
"Go on Ced! Put it in!" One yelled pushing Cedric out from the missing of the group. My heart pounded faster, he was seriously going to enter. Cho, Luna and I shot up on our feet in surprise. I crossed my arms and watch Cedric's actions. Cedric's eyes caught mine as he walking right through the age line. I took a breath and tenses up. Cedric winked at me as he slipped his name into the fames. I couldn't help but give him a small smile. Hey I can't help it! Have you seen his face!
"And you say he doesn't fancy you" cho scoffed.
"I guess that answers the question if Cedric is entering" Luna spoke
"Yeah guess it does" I sighed
"You didn't want him too did you?" Cho asked
"No" I sighed giving a small smile
"Why not? I think it's neat" luna smiled
"People have died in this and well I don't want one of those people to be Cedric" I explained
"You care about him don't you?" Cho asked. I didn't say anything. I just turned and nodded
"He's gonna be alright Elena" Luna said wrapping one arm around my shoulder and giving me a side hug. I smiled as I leaned into her.
"Pretty boy coming this way" cho whispered. I looked up and saw Cedric walking my way with a smile.
"So you really did it" I said awkwardly
"Yeah maybe I could give Hufflepuff some glory" he smiled. I shyly smiled and looked down at my shoes
"Always thinking of others first" I smiled looking into his eyes
"Guess you can say I am a true Hufflepuff" he smirked
"Yes you are" I laughed
"Can I escort you to class?" Cedric asked
"Of corse" I smiled as I grabbed my bag and walked out of the hall with Cedric by my side.
~later that night~
"The time has come to select our 3 champions!" Dumbledore yelled. As if on cue the flames went from blue to red as a burnt piece of parchment flew up into the air.
"The champion from Drumstrag is... Viktor Krum!" All of the Drumstrag boys cheered as Viktor made his way to the front of the hall. The flames turned red again and another name flew out.
"The champion for Bauxbatons is... Fleur Delacor!" Girly screams filled the air as a beautiful blonde stood up and walked to the front with a brilliant smile. The flames turned red and my hands became sweaty. I was so nervous and was praying for Cedric's name not to come out of that cup.
"The Hogwarts champion is... Cedric Diggory!" The hall erupted as Cedric stood up with a smile while my face drained of all color. He was chosen... well shit. Cedric shot me a wink before he walked through the doors to the trophy room.
"Well looks like a Tri wizard champion has his sights on you" cho laughed as she bumped my shoulder. But the flames turned red again as another name flew out.
"Harry Potter" Dumbledore said and the whole hall gasped
"Harry Potter!" He yelled later. Soon a very nervous Harry walked up to the front
"He's a cheat! He's not even 17" someone yelled in the silent hall.
" all of you to your dormitories" Dumbledore said following Harry
"Well looks like both of you have champions eyeing you" Luna laughed
"We should go" cho said, she obviously was not expecting Harry's name to be called, none of us were.
"I'll catch up with you guys in the common room" I said running the opposite way towards the trophy room. My head was spinning. Cedric was really a champion. I crossed my arms leaning against the wall trying to comprehend what just happened.
"Black?" A voice said snapping my head in their direction
"Hey Cedric" I lightly smiled
"So I am a champion" he smiled walking in front of me
"Yeah you are" I whispered looking at my shoes
"You are not happy about this?" He asked
"Not particularly" I said just above a whisper
"Why?" Cedric asked
"It's dangerous. People have died and I don't want you to become one of those people who died competing in these task" I said not holding back
"Hey listen to me" Cedric said uncrossing my arms and holding both of my hands.
"These task are safe they are not going to let anyone die. Nothing will happen ok? You don't need to worry about me alright?" He smiled looking into my eyes
"I always worry about you ced" I whispered staring into his gorgeous eyes
"Well you don't have too I am supposed to be the one worrying about you. But hey, I will be alright no need to worry darling" he lightly laughed
"Promise?" I asked
"Promise" he smiled pulling my into a tight hug
"Come on sweetheart it's getting late" Cedric said wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling my close. I wrapped both of my arms around his torso and smiled up at him. I was terrified for him, somehow he made all my worry and care in the world float away.
