Monster [Calum Hood/5SOS]

"We have to do whatever it takes to get her back." I tell the boys when they finally drag me inside from the ground where I had fell, hour's before. I had been forcing them to leave me there for hours and finally I stopped fighting them. I guess the only reason I fought them to let me stay was because I was hoping she was just going be standing there if I blinked.

"And we will. But first we need to eat Calum." Ashton set his hand on my shoulder looking me in the eye. "Saving a human on an empty stomach isn't the brightest of idea's." He says going over the the fridge. We stole blood bags from the hospitals to keep us going. Animal blood could keep us over for some things. But a rescue mission, isn't something you can just drink animal blood for.

"Eat. The faster you do, the fast we find her." Ashton says throwing a bag at me. I suck the blood dry as soon as it even touch's my hands.

"You might want to give him another Ashton. That will only last him a couple of hours before he's either after an animal or worse a human." Michael says as I drop the blood bag in the bin. Ashton looks me over, shaking his eat.

"Clean your face. Pack your bag. Your going into hiding while we look." Ashton snapped throwing the rag from the sink at me.

"What?! I'm not going into hiding while you look for my mate!" I snap back throwing the rag at his head. Ashton caught it before it was even a foot away from me; having me pinned to the wall, within a second.

"You will do as your told Calum." Ashton growls looking me in the eyes. "Mate or not. You of all people should know that, if we ever get close to our mate's; we could kill them. Luke learned that the hard way. Do you really want to risk Skyler's life?" One more thing about Skyler, She's Ashton's great grand-daughter. We're all over a couple hundred years old. Ashton lost his mate in 1830. Michael lost his in 1878. And Luke in 1890. They were all lucky and got to have someone carry on their bloodline though. I've just found Skyler, and now I've already lost her.

"Remember Ashton, your mind tricks don't work on me." I smirk pushing him off of me. "I know, Ashton, I know. I know I could kill her easily, but if I don't ever get the chance, to love her, then dammit I'm screwed! You all have bloodlines still! I'm the last person in my bloodline!" I shout at him. I look at them all with pleading eyes. I knew there were tears, that was one thing we could all still make. Tears. There wasn't many other human traits we still had.

"Calum, you understand why I'm so protective over Skyler, so I can't let you harm her, ever. You will go into hiding while we find out something as to where he could have taken her. Go to the old cabin in the woods. You will not leave that area until one of us comes to get you. Understood?" Ashton explains. I look at him, so many emotions running threw me. I could either run out now, and break code, fight and make him let me go with them, or do as he says and wait.

"Calum." I snap out of my thoughts looking back at Ashton. "Understood?" He asks resting his fist on the counter top. Just a tap of his finger, and he'd break the solid Granite into thousands of peices.

"Understood. When do I leave?" I ask him. I knew it was best to just do as Ashton said. Who know's what he would have done if I fought him. He's stronger then Luke, Michael, and me put together. Though he never shows his true strength. There is a lot we still have to learn about Ashton, even after knowing him for almost 200 years.

"As soon as you pack. I'll take you there just to make sure you don't try anything." Ashton says. Luke and Michael say a few words to me before leaving the room.

"Why exactly are you making me go into hiding? I know there is a better reason then what you are giving me." I ask him, not moving from my spot. I could stand here for an eternity, if that was how long it took for me to get answer's from him.

"Because we end up running across Skyler, and she isn't..." He pauses, gritting his teeth, he looked anywhere, but at me. "Living, anymore, it would rip you to shreds. Remember Calum, if someone other then you bite's her, she's theirs. I don't want to see you go threw that pain." Ashton sighs, he runs a hand threw his hair looking out of the window.

"It's almost dawn. We need to leave soon." I nod before retreating from the room. There was nothing more he was going to tell me right then. But from what he did, I could understand his actions. When someone see's there mate taken away from them... They will kill the person that took their mate; after their mate, because you can never have them, after they have been mated to someone else; finally themselves. The pain is very hard to handle.

We are very lucky that we still have Michael. His mate not long after giving birth to his son, was taken by the same person that took Skyler. Michael watched as he mated with her, then killed her. Michael went insane. Killing anything in his sight. He tried to kill us even. That was a very bad day. Someone had to watch him at all time for two years. We still worry about him.

When Luke lost his mate, he was lost. He was gone for maybe 2 years. We looked for him every day, questioning where he could have gone. We found him at the begining of our third year of searching in,  Sydney. That soon became our home, and we've been here since then.

I never explained how, Luke lost his mate.

Well you see, Luke's mate was giving birth to their third child. Luke insisted that he be with her, while giving birth. The times before we had Luke stand on the other side of glass, that time we couldn't hold him back. It all had become too much for Luke in the end and he killed her. He only had five minutes left with her after he realized what he had done. That was also when she told him that she was dying. Luke still felt bad, but he knew she was out of her misery that way. That night Luke had taken the kids and ran off.

I don't know what happened to Ashton's mate. I never me her. Ashton found me after he lost her. He's never told me the story. Just small things about her, and when she was gone.

Luke and Michael always told me that she was an amazing person. I wish I would have met her.
