Hey guys. Just wanted to make it clear that the game at Yorktown will take place after winter break, and America Academy is K-12 and it is a private school. And I know that Alex's mother died when he was 12, but I'm changing that to 8 because Alex is 12 in the story. And also, Alex's brother didn't go to America with him irl, but in this story he did. Omg I'm saying "and" so much! Anyways, Since the last couple of chapters were so short, this one is going to be long! Yay! Anyway, enjoy! 😋

Alex's POV:
The wall calendar read December 16. A normal day for anyone but Alex. A happy day, for anyone but Alex. Students were supposed to be happy, because it was almost winter break. But not Alex.
"Alex. I've been worried about you. The whole day has been nothing but fun, but you've been looking so sad. When Mr. Washington announced that we were doing free write instead of editing during Language Arts, you didn't even smile. You usually love free write! And when we watched a movie during science, you sat in the corner. And during math when Mr. Washington said that we-"
"Eliza. I'm fine. Today just is harder for me because, well, somethings have happened in the past on this day. But I'm over them." Alex said.
"Alex, no you're not. If you were you wouldn't be sad. What happened?" Elisa said.
The two were sitting on a park bench at recess. It was too cold to do anything but talk, so that's what everyone was doing.
"I don't know. I don't want you to feel bad for me or anything."
"I won't. Or maybe I will, but I won't show it. "
"Okay. Well, back in Nevis, four years ago today, my mom and I were both really, really sick. I got better, but my mom...."
"Oh Alex!" Eliza said, squeezing his hand. "I'm so sor-"
"And that's not all." Alex said, tears dripping down his face. "My mom died after my father left us. He left us all alone. My older brother, my mother and I. After my mom died, my older brother and I moved in with my cousin. We were happy for two years, but that year, on December 16, my cousin put a bullet through his heart."
"Oh my gosh, Alexander! I had no idea-"
"I was eleven at the time. And then, if things couldn't get any worse, a huge hurricane hit Nevis, completely destroying my town. I wrote an article for a local newspaper, describing the tragedy from my point of view. The people, the citizens of Nevis, read it and decided that I should go to America for a better life. They passed a plate around, total strangers, moved to kindness, by my story. They raised enough for me to book passage on a plane that was New York bound. But I screamed and cried and refused to go without my brother. But there was just no money. Luckily the airport let him on for free. Together, we came to this new land. I was lucky that we got placed in the same foster home. Sorry for like, scaring you or whatever." Alex said, wiping tears off of his face.
"You didn't scare me. I'm so sorry. But the most important thing is that you braved through it, and you're here now, at an amazing school. You're going to get a great education, have a great job, a great family, and an overall great future."
     "Thanks, Eliza. "
"No problem. Oh. The bell just rang. Let's get inside." Eliza said, taking Alex's hand and pulling him up.
Together, hand in hand, they shivered all the way to the school building. What no one else knew, was that James Madison and Angelica Schuyler hung back.
"Okay. No one's looking." Angie whispered to James.
James and Angie took each other's hand and ran to the building.
     The new secret couple.

Peggy's POV:
It was after school, and the halls were filled with students going to their after school activities. Peggy was supposed to go to art club, but she had someone to deal with.
Peggy screeched as she pulled on Maria's sweater. "STOP!" She screamed.
"Get off me, Peggy! I'm going to be late for debate club!" Maria said, pushing Peggy away.
"You're only going to debate club so you can kiss Alex!" Peggy shouted. She then saw Angelica walking to book club. "Angie! Angie! ANGELICA!" Peggy screamed as she fought with Maria.
"Peggy! What are you two doing?" Angie said, running over to them.
"It's really none of your business, but if you just have to know, your crazy sister was attacking me for no reason at all." Maria said, giving Peggy a final shove. Peggy flew against the wall.
"Not true!" Peggy said, scrambling to her feet. She grabbed Maria's arm again. "She's going to kiss Alex!"
"And how do you know this?" Angie said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, Peggy. Tell your sister how you know that I'm going to kiss Alex." Maria said, a smirk traveling across her face.
Peggy sighed. She could either lie, or tell the truth. If she lied, she wouldn't have any evidence. And if she wasn't positive that Maria would kiss Alex, Angie wouldn't do anything. "I know because.. I told her to! But I wasn't thinking and now I'm trying to stop her but it's not working! Please, please, puh-leeeaase don't tell Eliza!" Peggy said, keeping a firm grip on Maria's arm.
Angie stopped in her tracks. "You did WHAT?!" She cried.
"I'm so sorry! Please don't tell Eliza!" Peggy whimpered.
Maria shoved Peggy once more. "I said, get off of me, brat!" She snapped. "You're trapping me in your sh*t, and you're making me late for debate club! I will ruin your perfect little life. Don't think I can? Think again. Jefferson happens to be a great friend of mine. And you know his rep. He'll make you wish you were never born! But wait. I bet you already think that. Your two sisters are the shining stars of the school, while you are just the annoying girl who follows them around. Kill yourself, Margarita. You two, Angelica." She spat. And with that, she ran into the debate club room before Angie or Peggy should stop her.
Peggy let out a whimper and collapsed to the floor.
Angie slid to the floor and pulled Peggy into her lap. "Peggy... don't listen to her." She said, forgetting what Peggy had done for a second. No matter what happened, Angelica was extremely protective of her sisters. "You are amazing. You are not an annoying little girl. Do not kill yourself. Please. I love you so much."
Peggy sobbed into her sister's chest. "So what? Everyone hates me. Maria's going to ruin my life. No one will miss me if I'm gone." Peggy cried.
"Peggy Schuyler did you just say what I think you said? Did you say no one will miss you if you're gone? Aaron Burr and John Adams will miss you due to their humongous crush on you, me and Liza. Alex, Herc and Laf will miss you because you are a very important member in our squad. John will miss you because you two are best friends, and you both like each other. Mr. Washington will miss you, because you're one of his favorites, and you get straight A's. Mom and Daddy will miss their beautiful little girl. And most of all, Eliza and I will miss you more than words could explain. Peggy, you are amazing and I love you." Angie said, stroking Peggy's hair.
Peggy smiled. "I love you too. And wait, did you say that John likes me back?" Peggy sat up. This news cheered her up.
"Yep." Angie's smiled faded. "Pegs, I have a secret. I can't hold it in any longer. Me and James Madison are dating. And before you tell me how much of a jerk he is, let me explain. He's not a jerk. He just acts like one so Thomas doesn't bully him. "
"Why didn't you tell me about this earlier, sis?" Peggy asked.
"We wanted it to be secret for a while." Angie said, twirling her hair.
"Well, I guess I'm the only Schuyler sister without a boyfriend." Peggy laughed.
Angie stared wide-eyed down the hall. "Not for long." She whispered.
Right outside the gym, Maria and Alex were kissing. Maria broke the kiss and said something, which made Alex kiss her again. Angie stormed down the hall. James Reynolds was coming down the other way when he saw them kissing. He started running towards the two.
"What the hell is going on?" James Reynolds yelled.
Startled, Alex and Maria jumped back.
"I...uh...we..." Alex stuttered.
"Oh, I know exactly what was going on!" Screamed Angelica.
"Why, Maria? WHY?" Screamed James Reynolds.
Maria started to cry and ran down the hall. James followed her.
Now it was Angie's turn to deal with Alex.
"Alexander Hamilton you little-"
Alex kissed Angie. " I've always liked you, Angelica." He said, stroking her hair.
Angie slapped him in the face. "HOW DARE YOU CHEAT ON MY SISTER AND KISS ME?! DOESN'T COMMITMENT MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU?! I'M PUTTING WHAT WE HAD ASIDE, I'M STANDING AT ELIZA'S SIDE, YOU COULD NEVER BE SATISFIED, GOD I HOPE YOU'RE SATISFIED!" Angelica screamed. She gave him one final slap and said, "I just can't believe you would do this, Alex. I thought you were different. I was wrong." And with that, she stormed down the hall, grabbed Peggy's hand and said, "Pegs, we're skipping after school activities today. Let's get Eliza and go home."
"Oh, okay." Peggy said, still in shock of what just happened. She then saw John walking down the hall. "Hey Angie, can you go get Eliza? I have something I need to do." She said. Without waiting for a reply, she sprinted down the hall to her best friend. Peggy jumped into John's arms and he caught her. They both tumbled to the floor, laughing. They loved doing this, it was like their signature thing.
"My Peggy." John said, hugging her tight.
Peggy smiled. Did he just call her his Peggy? She hugged him really tight. She loved her best friend so much. Since preschool, the two were inseparable. They grew up together, and everyone always accused them of being in love. Though it was kind of true, they always denied it.
"Peggy. I have something to tell you." John said.
"And I have something to tell you." Peggy said.
Whenever this happened, John and Peggy would both say what they needed to say at the same time.
"One, two, three!" John counted.
"I like you!" They both said.
For a second they both looked at each other in shock, then they erupted in laughter.
"I thought you would want to stay best friends, and you didn't like me that way!" John exclaimed.
"Me too!" Peggy said, embracing John. The two hugged for a long time. Hugging John gave Peggy a feeling of warmth, which soothed her and made her forget about what had happened with Maria for just a moment. Together, in each other's arms, they hummed their favorite song. It was Rather Be.
"When I am with you, there's no place I'd rather be." John whispered to Peggy. And it was true.

The next day - Lafayette's POV
Lafayette woke up at 12:30, then dialed Herc's number. "Finally winter break, mon ami! Want to sled on the hill beside my house?" He said excitedly into the phone.
"Yes! I'll text John, and the Schuylers to see if they want to come!" Herc shouted back.
"Yes! Do not text Alex, though. He has some, how you say, tension with the sisters. Eliza is still heartbroken." Laf said, making breakfast.
"Of course. John is pretty mad, too. He's known the sisters since they were three." Here replied.
"I do not blame him. He is Peggy's best friend. And from what I heard, he's going to ask her to be his girlfriend. He told her he likes her on Friday. She likes him back!" Laf said.
"I know. John and Angie both texted back. John is coming, and Angie said both her and Peggy will be there too. She doesn't know about Eliza, though." Herc told Laf.
"Poor Eliza. Wait, Angie just texted me. Eliza is coming! She wants to have some fun to get Alex off her mind." Laf said.
"Great! I actually have to go. Mom's making me take a shower." Herc said.
"Goodbye, mon ami." Laf said.
"Bye." Said Herc.
Laf hung up the phone. He was really excited. His exchange parents were really nice, and they were letting him invite all his friends over to sled on a huge hill behind their house. He ran to grab sleds from the garage and hot cocoa mix from the pantry.
"Marquis, you're only having a couple friends over. Why are you so rushed and panicked?" His exchange mom asked as she walked into the kitchen.
"Yes, but it must be perfect. They are all very kind. I am moving back to France at the end of high school anyway, so I want to spend much time with them." Just then there was a knock on the door.
