The two older sisters obsessed over the shy boy for quite some time, asking him things about what it was like to be a No-Maj and his world opposed to theirs.
"How do you cook?" Queenie asks him as she takes a sip of her milkshake.
Credence paused for a moment, trying to understand what she was asking as Persephone rolled her eyes. Before Credence could speak up, Persephone abruptly interrupts their conversation; "You know how to cook, Queenie. You do it everyday," she said and popped a fry in her mouth, stating the obvious.
Queenie looked at her sister and sighed, "I know but No Maj's do it differently," she expressed.
Credence started to talk before Persephone could even start to protest, "We use pans and pots and stir things with spoons," he said.
"How peculiar," Queenie said and gave him a charming smile.
Persephone glared at her sister, she was flirting and Queenie knew it agrivated the youngest Goldstein.
Tina leaned over to speak in a quieter tone, "You're apart of the New Salem group, right?" she asked.
Persephone glared at the brown haired girl, "Teenie," she said and gave her a look as they silently communicated through their eyes. Queenie let out a laugh as they thoughts completely coincided.
"What? It's my job to know this stuff, Peony," Tina said and sighed as she turned to the dark haired boy.
Credence nodded cautiously, he wasn't very aware of what Tina's job was or what she could do.
Tina nodded as well when she saw his response, "Good, then Peony was doing her job as well."
Credence frowned, what did him being a New Salem member have anything to do with Persephone and her so-called job; "What's her job?"
Persephone stared at her sisters for a moment before turning to Credence hesitantly, "I'm a spy for Tina, I spy on whoever she wants me to," she told him wearily.
Credence nodded, "Cool," he said as he took a bite of his sandwich. He slowly realized that it was the only reason she was talking to him. The betrayal on his face was clear as he silently put down his sandwich and abruptly left.
Persephone sighed and got up, pulling on her coat and bidding her sisters goodbye as she rushed after her friend.
"Credence! Credence, please!" she called out desperately, her heels clicking on the sidewalk.
Credence shook his head, "You were only spying on me," he said lowly, glaring at everyone and everything.
Persephone shook her head and paused for a moment as she pulled her heels off and ran up to him, standing in front of him and placing a hand on his chest; "I wasn't only spying on you."
Credence scoffed and just walked around her, continuing his march of anger.
The shorter girl sighed and followed him, "I wanted to be your friend, it wasn't only to spy on you!"
Credence rolled his eyes and proceeded to ignore her, his stride not hesitating once.
"If I was only spying then I wouldn't have a crush on you!" Persephone yelled, and stood there as she stared him down.
Credence paused and turned around slowly, "You what?" he asked.
"I-I... I like you a lot, Credence," she admitted, her tone softening as she realized the confession she had just made.
He stared at her in awe and then quickly rushed up to her and connected their lips in a passionate kiss. They were both in heaven.
