Zero turned and twisted, her body begged for sleep, but her mind refused that request. Virgil was nice enough to let her rest and stay in the repair wing. The lab was well lit and full of parts of bots and bits. Zero hated this, her body ached, her mind numb but buzzed with missing memories. The repair core looked back at Zero with a concerned expression, he was doing some repair on small chips for panels under Her request.
Virgil sighed, "You okay? I'm better with bots than humans, but you can at least tell me why your so distressed."
Zero rubbed her sore ocean blue eyes, and looked at the designed floral orange core. "My mind, I can't stop thinking. I have memories, memories missing and I'm trying to solve the puzzle."
Virgil nodded slowly, "I see. . . Being in cryo-sleep for longer than the healthy amount isn't probably the best for you. You probably have brain damage, well that's obvious. But still. Well, maybe it's a serious case of amnesia." The core paused. "What do you remember... start from there.. like a puzzle, you need one piece to find the correct other." The core smiled from his optic lens in his core-y way. Zero made a thoughtful look.
"I do remember.... that I was sitting on an edge of a cliff, with headphones on. I was looking over a ocean ridge , the taste of the salty air. I remember that... but there was also another person, I know it was a man. A very kind man or boy, whichever. Anyway we were sitting and talking or something, I can't remember what he said. But I felt heart touched by his words." Zero sighed. Virgil nodded thoughtfully.

Zero finally went to sleep was Virgil continued repair. Every once and a while he would glance at Zero, she was calm, not so hard looking when asleep. Zero kind of did carry a hard look, one that demanded authority... even if her dignity was a little broken...

She sat, listening to classical music from her headset, and gazed calmly at the setting sun that turned the ocean into gold and orange with sparkling yellow flakes across the rippling and waving surface. It was such a majestic sight on the coastal cliff side. A boy with red spiked hair and bright amber eyes that seemed to be gold from the sunset came and sat by her, he said nothing for a moment. The two sat in silence. The boy looked at the pink tinted sky, peachy wispy clouds drifting in the swift ocean wind.
"Hey... I'm glad you decided to come work with me..." he said finally from the long silence of waves roaring against the eroding rock.
"Think I'll make it in? What's the pay like?" The girl looked at the boy. He smiled cheekily.
"Guess you'll find out, until then. This is quality time, you and I." The boy rested a hand on hers, she smiled softly.

Zero woke up from her comfortable spot on some cover blankets in the corner of the room. The lights were dim, Virgil was at the far end of the room in sleep mode on his management rail. Zero stood up and walked over to a desk, blueprints spread all over the messy top of gadgets, but one blueprint caught her eye. The blueprint had a title that said.

     OLD IDEAS:Android Body Design
Zero looked at the prints, body designs for both male and female types were drawn all over the blue paper, with synthetic pumps for coolant planned, to servos that felt pain, tasted, and all things a human can do. Zero cocked her head, I wonder why they want to be human? I guess I can understand. . . Ability to walk and eat, do as you please. Zero thought and smiled to herself, then she went back to her comfy corner of cover blankets. She wrapped herself up in the thin blankets, and drifted off to sleep with the same dream. The memory she was stuck in, the first puzzle piece to what she was mentally missing.
