"This is the Ross household." Officer Landers said as he walked into the surburban house alongside Agent Morgan and Agent Rossi. "We believe that the unsub broke in through the second floor window, it was smashed and the bin underneath it outside was knocked over."
"Would Margo and Mr Ross not have heard that?"
"We can't know for sure until Margo talks." Landers said in an annoyed tone.
"Dr Reid is working on that." Rossi assured the man.
The three men walked through the house slowly, taking everything in from the broken glass in front of the window to the boot prints on the floor. The main room downstairs was full of blood and was the clear scene of the crime. Rossi and Morgan analysed every part of the room for anything strange and it was Rossi who's eyes landed on the mahogony mantelpiece - two framed pictures lay normally on the wood but there was a large amount of space seperating them which seemed unusual.
Something was missing.
Rossi took out his phone and loaded the camera, taking a photograph of the scene in front of him because his gut feeling was telling him to.
"Morgan, we need to go."

Spencer and Margo sat opposite each other on her hospital bed; their legs were crossed with their knees touching. There was a calming atmosphere between them since the odd feelings that they were both expiriencing had been admitted. They both felt good. Neither one were actually able to believe that somebody as good as the other would really like them.
"Hold on a minute." Margo exclaimed with a giggle. "You prefer Halloween to Christmas?"
"Yeah, it's cooler." He nodded. "It's a uniquely American holiday, originating from The Celtic Festival of Samhain and The Christian All Saints' Day but it's a melting pot of various immigrants' traditions and beliefs. It became a little more commercialised in the 1950's with Trick-or-Treat but it's a great holiday."
"The way you just know things is astounding." She gushed at him. "In a great way."
"I just know things." He shrugged.
"Exactly." She grinned. "We should do a joint Halloween costume one day."
"What would we be?"
She thought for a moment before looking up with the spark of an idea. "The Doctor and Sarah Jane."
"Han Solo and Princess Lea."
"Captain Kirk and Spok." They both began to laugh loudly, falling towards each other as they did, the conversation hadn't even been that funny but they were just giddy about each other.
A firm knock on the door interupted them.
JJ stood outside but she was not alone, Rossi and Morgan stood next to her gesturing for Reid to go outside and speak to them. He stood up from the bed. "I'll see what they need."
"Is that your team?" She asked quietly. "Hurry back, handsome."
A smile made it's way onto his face without resistance. "I'll be quick."
Spencer Reid loved his job and his team but every time he had to leave Margo he felt like everything was getting a little bit worse. His team looked at him with strange eyes because anybody could see the chemistry that flowed between him and Margo and it was rare they ever seen Spencer interact like that with anybody.
"Have you pulled, kid?" Morgan smirked.
Spencer stayed silent.
"Has she told you about what happened yet?"
He shook his head.
"Show her this picture and ask her what's missing." Rossi ordered lightly holding out his phone to his younger friend.
"What is this?" Spencer asked: protective over the girl.
"Just do it, kid."
Spencer walked in with slow steps and when he got nearer to Margo he showed her the clear picture, searching her face clearly for any trace of unhappiness that came upon it.
"This is from my house." She stated.
"What's missing?"
Her face was frozen, she had to work hard just to get her lips to move. "A picture of my family two years before everything went to shit."
"All of your family?" A nod was used in reply to him. "I need to tell them."
Spencer went to rush out of the room but Margo grabbed his hand with her own shaking one. Her eyes had turned glossy and she took a large intake of breath. "Did he take it? The man who killed my dad?"
Spencer hated the look of sheer terror that had taken over her expression, he knew that his team would be watching but he couldn't help the way his body moved down so that he could place a chaste kiss on her forehead.
"I think so but we'll get him."
"I hope so."
Spencer walked out of the room and handed Rossi his phone -- Morgan was dying to tease the guy who was like his little brother but it wasn't the time. "There should be a picture of her with her family from two years ago. Did the unsub take it?"
"It looks like it." Rossi nodded.
"Why would he want a picture of her family?" Morgan asked.
"A souvenier." JJ searched for an explanation.
"If it was just about that night he wouldn't take a picture that had her mother and brother in it. They were already dead."
The four of them shared a look and knew that they were all thinking the same thing -- that there was so much more to the unsub and the case -- somehow, the unsub was connected to the death of Mrs Ross and her son.
"We need to call Hotch and Garcia and get all of the details about the car accident her mother and brother died in. Reid, you need to find out what happened that night."
"I don't know if she'll tell me." He said honestly. "She really doesn't want to talk about it."
"You've clearly established a connection and we need that information for the case."
