~Chapter Five~
"What makes you people think that I am going to participate in this training?" My temper was once again rising.
Right now Cressida was trying to introduce me into the basics. And I was not cooperating. I could tell it was angering her slightly but I did not care. I do not owe these people anything.
"You do not want Jovian to come back in here and force you. Believe me," Cressida slanted her hard gaze at me as she crossed her arms over her chest.
I threw my hands up in aggravation. "You guys can't seriously consider that I had actually believed a damn thing you said. Why should I trust in anything you say? I don't know you people and you all have been-" I cut myself off at the end. I was going to say that they had all be rude but that would be a lie. In all honesty, everybody had actually been very welcoming, all except Aleksandr. The one who dragged me here in the first place.
"Who cares if you trust me or not? I'd rather you did but if you don't, it's not my problem," Cressida spoke evenly. "I need to have your physical training done by your birthday and you are not making this process any smoother."
I directed a hard, cold glare at Cressida. "It is not my problem if your job doesn't get done quick enough," I fired back using the same tactic as her.
Cressida let out a sigh of defeat and shook her head. "I'm sorry it had to come to this but I need this to get done. If you won't cooperate, we will have to bring Ashleigh into this. Maybe pay a visit to your parents."
She just had to put emphasis on that word as if to rub it in my face.
I sputtered slightly in shock. "How do you know about Ashleigh?" My blue eyes were wide and my mouth hung open slightly.
"We know many things about you and your life with the humans, Sera," she walked towards me.
"Leave her out of this," I demanded icily. The thought of any sort of harm coming towards Ashleigh pained me. She was more than just my best friend. Ashleigh had been my only real friend and was more of a sister to me.
I didn't even care that she just threatened my parents. Strangely, I don't feel any emotional attachment to them at all.
Cressida pursed her lips. "How about we make a little deal," she raised a brow. As she crossed her arms over her chest she continued, "You obviously still don't believe in your true being so I won't force that on you right now."
Right now. I definitely caught onto that quick.
"If you allow me to train you until your birthday and you still do not trust us, I will send you back to the human world." I stood up straighter at her words. Yes! The human world! Two weeks and I'll be free!
"But," I held my breath as she seemed to pause dramatically. "If any of your powers show before hand, which would prove what I already know and what you refuse to acknowledge, you must remain here to aid our Kingdom until you are no longer needed." As I stared at her evenly she said, "But know this before you give me an answer. You can not trick fate nor escape your future."
What the hell is that supposed to mean? My thoughts were running in circles as I struggled to comprehend her underlining meaning.
Cressida's clearing of the throat interrupted them though. "Do we have a deal or not?"
