My Resolution, My Love

Even I wasn't expecting this oneshot. I saw it and my brain exploded. Happy New Year guys. I have some resolution in mind, some concern life, some concern love. Some concern Wattpad. I hope I can find all three of these in the coming year. Hope you enjoy this oneshot...

The Kalos Region. A vibrant, beautiful region which has seen another year of excellent life. Countless battles were won and lost, Pokemon were caught and befriended, and many began their first journey. Now what will everyone resolve to improve next year?

Serena, a young honey blonde teenager native to the region and her two Lumosian friends Bonnie and Clemont, siblings, had a surprise in store for their non native friend.

Ash was also a teenager from the Kanto Region. He was on a journey with Serena, Bonnie and Clemont through Kalos. They were all ready to celebrate a year of travelling together as well as a Happy New Year. There was just one problem...

"Bonnie help me with these decorations." Serena was holding up a set of balloons with Pokeballs on them. She was determined to get her surprise ready for her crush. It was no secret between the three of them that Serena had a deep care for the Kantonian considering how quickly she came up with this idea.

"Coming Serena!" Bonnie called to her sister like friend. She walked into the room with a grin. Bonnie was perhaps nearly as excited as Serena for what Ash would think of their hard efforts. She knew how much Serena wanted to bring back Ash's smile. Her and Clemont both agreed to help after his recent behaviour.

Serena watched Ash training giving her support just how she would always do. However, something was off. He didnt have his usual oomph, his usual spark. An energy she so haply admired had suddenly faded into a dim light. Ever since the day after Christmas he seemed different she realised.

Whenever any of them tried talking to Ash, to ask if he was ok, he would just brush them off or very ineffectively reassure them of his well-being with a weak willed 'I'm fine'. None of them were convinced.

Oddly enough Pikachu was also acting a little down. Despite this, all of Ash's Kalosian Pokemon were acting fine and giving their all. Their passion is no longer being met with their trainers so they are worried to.

So Serena decided to try and talk to the raven haired boy to see what was on his mind. It was very informative.

"Hey Ash? Can we talk?" She asked catching him in their room alone. First thing she noticed was his forlorn expression when he turned to her. It broke her heart to see him like this, Ash who was normally such an upbeat positive thinker. Something she loved about him which Shauna so helpfully pointed out at one point.

"Hi Serena, I guess we can talk, what about?" Ash replied in a lack luster fashion. "I wanna talk about you, can I sit?" Serena gave him a small smile with that request. She simply radiated sympathy. Ash nodded, wondering why he was willing to talk to Serena but no one else.

Serena sat down next to him. His cap was off, Pikachu was asleep and his head was down. His hair nearly covered his eyes as it hung like a metaphorical storm cloud over his head.

"We noticed you have been a little down Ash, talk to me, what's up?" Serena queried. Ash shuffled where he sat. Serena got the impression he was slightly hesitant about speaking about what was bothering him.

With a sigh, Ash turned to face Serena and started. "I just feel a bit down I guess its because..." Then he stopped himself and looked back down as if ashamed of his reasoning. A few moments passed and then Ash felt a gentle touch on his shoulder. Serena had put her hand there and when he looked at her, she had a highly determined smile.
