So this oneshot is the first in a small series of oneshots I am nicknaming 'Dose of Reality'. If i decide to carry them on i am not too sure yet. I am using different fanarts I have accumulated over time and it is based on stuff which has actually happened to me. Feel free to question me on any of the contents. Also all Dose of Reality Oneshots will be connected should more be written. Hope you enjoy.

When I first came to university, I wasn't expecting there to be a no Pokemon rule. That was a bummer. But I suppose I should get used to it since I am here for three years. I will see Pikachu when I return home.

My name is Ash Ketchum, I have just finished college and far from my normal way of thinking, I decided to go to University. Why I decided such a thing is beyond me. However, trying something new and branching out is a part of growing up...right?

I... I have always been reserved in myself. I'm extremely social dont get me wrong. I have no problem making friends. Its just I have always been somewhat...cut off from my emotions.

Something truly horrible could happen before me, something emotionally destructive. And yet I would remain unfazed in even the worst circumstances. I have seen gruesome stuff and yet nothing bothers me. A useful defence which I developed through a few years of bullying back at school.

However useful it is...it is not me. I hate it in fact. Hate myself. But no one must ever know. I have closed my heart off, you must never open yourself upto anyone fully. Or they will use it against you.

I was studying History as a course. It seemed interesting and we will end up doing about the Pokemon wars later on. Its all fairly new stuff and I got kind of tired learning purely about Kanto history. Speaking of, the University is in a newly formed city in the Kanto region. It was named Lineker City.

After a while, I established a small friendship group. Two girls I got along with were known as Misty and May. (Not gonna be using real names, gotta keep a Pokemon context after all :3) These two were real fun to be around.

I would say my time at University really changed near the end of October. May was holding a party...and of course she wanted me to come. I made no promises as it was social situations like that which I was unsure of. I had been drunk only a few times before but I admit I wanted to try more. University life right?

So let me tell you why this was the best decision I made at university since I got here.

Despite myself I decided to go to this party. May was throwing a Halloween themed party and was hoping some people would dress up. I noticed she also invited Iris. She was another friend in our little group and lived at a different accommodation to either of us.

There was also another girl known as Yellow, but sadly she could not join us. As it turned out a few other people ended up coming. May was quite popular it seemed.

Anyway, I arrived early but I could not be bothered dressing up. Against my normal self, I came here on a whim. I didnt expect to enjoy myself and May understood this. She asked me to help with some tinsel decorations and other Halloween themed things. I was not the best at that so I just set up the food instead.

There was a green and black bowl alongside an assortment of sweets. So I set them out on the table. When May returned she was like "Ash, why havent you set up decorations?" I just pointed to the table with all the food.

She sighed, knowing how typical this was of me, we had been friends for a month but she was quite used to the way I was. I pulled out my phone to have a look at the time. But I forgot, I was so busy doing an essay at the library I forgot to charge it. It had been dead since I first arrived. Great a whole party with no phone. Teenager nightmare right here.
