Oh no. The teacher, Mrs. Hunjilo was handing back the history test.
I always try not to do good in history or literature, which are my best subjects. I love to write and create new worlds and I love to learn more about the world I live in.
Unfortunately though, I normally do good in history and literature. I have the highest grade average in my history and literature classes.
Which wouldn't sound like a problem execpt I'm a lowly faerie. There's only one species lower than a faerie, which is a pyxie, and they don't go to school.
The teacher placed my test on my desk and gave me a smile.
'Mireya, please stay after class.' She told me before moving on to the desks of faeries behind me.
I glanced at my desk before grabbing the test and shoving it into my bag. At least this class is a one species class, which means it is full of faeries. But still, I can't be too careful.
My teacher barley finished passing out the tests before the bell rang.
I stood up with everyone else and pulled my bag over my shoulder, and untangled the strap from one of my brown and beige wings while waiting for the students to clear the room.
'Mireya, you have the highest grade of this class. And I've spoken to your other teachers as well. You're a very smart girl, I can tell. You're grades are high in all your classes, but then you miss simple questions on tests. So, I want to confer with your literature teacher about bumping you up to a fae class.' Mrs. Hunjilo told me.
I can't be put into a fae class, I'm a faerie. A lowly faerie. I've always been warned to keep my head down, to be quiet, not to cause trouble, and to not make friends with faes or a species higher.
'I'm sorry, but I'm late for my magic science class and I don't want to get in trouble. I'm sorry, but I really can't be put into a fae class either, I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Bye, Mrs. Hunjilo, I'll see you tomorrow.' I said quietly.
Then I turned around and left the room.
