Trien's POV

I walked out of my Fae Literature class and i head towards my Magic Science class that combines Fae and Faeries. I enjoy Magic Science but the teacher is always pairing up a Fae with a Faerie for partner labs because Faeries are too stupid to complete experiments correctly on their own. I walk into class and this Faerie with pretty light brown wings bumps into me and I drop my stuff. She falls onto the ground from the impact.

"I'm so so so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. I just didn't want to be late. I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me." She babbled.

"Are you ok?" I ask as I bend down to help her up and pick up my things. Why was she scared of me? I may be a Fae but i won't hurt her. I'm not a naturally mean person.

"I'm ok. I'm sorry for bumping into you." She says, again. Then she walks to her seat with her head down.

The Fae in the class just snicker at her, while her friends who are Faerie surround her and make sure she's ok. I go to my seat and the teacher starts the lesson. At the end of the class, she pulls up everyone's grade and puts them up on the board in grade order. She does that to congratulate those with good grades, and to give subtle(not really) hints to those not doing to well. I look up there and I see my name at the very top, the highest in the class.

"Trien Nightearth, you have a 198 in this class. Good job." She calls out. I just nod my head in thanks to not draw attention to myself.

Then she moves onto the next name and I don't recognize it. "Mireya Banedash, you have the second highest grade in this class with a surprising 197. Good job!" Mrs. Thornrose calls out while looking at the Faerie girl who knocked me down at the beginning of class. Mireya, the Faerie with pretty wings, just proceeds to blush and duck her head.

That catches me off guard because a Faerie with that high of a grade is unheard of. I've been at this school for almost 100 years now, and there has never been a Faerie who's grades have been good let alone one point below mine. I'm not trying to be cocky here, but I'm the smartest kid at this school. There is a score board at the front of the school that ranks every student based on their overall grade, and I've been in the number one spot for a little over 75 years. To have a faerie be able to get this close to my grades is nearly impossible.

The bell rings and i take my time gathering my things for my next class as i watch her. Next period is Gym and if i recall correctly, i have it with her. I wait for her and as she leaves, i call out, "Hey Mireya, can i talk to you for a second?"

She stiffens and turns towards me as i catch up to her.

"How'd you get so good at Magic Science? I thought Faeries were stupid and weren't good at math and science related stuff." I question.

She rolls her eyes and retorts, "We're not idiots, we are just good at different things than Fae. And that doesn't mean we can't learn to be good at it."

"But..."

"But what? We keep our heads down because we don't want to be bullied. Oh, i'm sorry, did i insult you, your majesty? Just leave me alone because I am going to get bullied for talking to you and you're gonna get knocked down a few pedestals. I'm sorry that not everyone likes you." She cuts me off and then races to gym. I'm stuck dumbfounded and then I realize that i can't be late to gym and i race after her.
