(They will lose.)
"So, what am I here for Ms. Clark?" Asked the social worker, Mrs. Wilson.
Her brown hair was pulled into a tight bun. She wore an expensive suit and dress shoes. As she looked at me, she messed with her thick framed glasses.
"I have an abuse and neglect case ma'am, and I would appreciate your help." I said as I pulled out my notebook.
"Let's take a look at what we got." She said scooting the small book towards her.
I watched her intently as she looked at my pictures and my accounts of what happened. Her face getting slightly more twisted as she read along. I had used my phone to secretly take pictures for evidence. I then printed them off and put them next to my memories of what happened those nights. Like I said, they don't understand what I'm capable of.
"Um, you really do have a case here. If you don't mind me asking... Do you have any physical scars or brushes that match these in the pictures?" She asked cautiously.
I lifted up my shirt to show slash marks on my back from being whipped. I also rolled up my pants to show a stab wound on my leg. Then, my cheek is still bruised, and a bruise on my arm and neck from my brother. There is more, but that's probably all she needs.
She quickly took pictures and hugged me. I jumped at the touch of the stranger. She quickly backed off.
"I will help you Catherine. They will not get away with this." She assured with her hands on my shoulders. She probably caught on how uneven I felt. She let go. And put her arms to her side.
"Wait!" I said, "My mom is not part of it. She is actually a victim too. Please make sure I still have her. Please. She is all I have."
"Okay, I'll will be sure of it." She said, "You won't have to be a in the court much for the trial, unless you want to."
"I just want to tell my story to the court and leave." I told her.
"You got it." She said
This time I walked up to her and hugged her. She was surprised but melted into the hug.
"Thank you." I cried into her shoulder.
"Honey, you're so welcome. You don't deserve this life. We will win." She said with a smile.
Sammy came into view slowly and waited till me and the social worker were done. When I said goodbye, we went back into her room.
"Samantha, I'm worried." I stated.
"There's no reason to Catherine." She said.
"Yes, yes there is. I will see my father in court. He will know I'm the one that's going against him. If I don't win, he will come after me worse than ever before. If I win and he gets minor punishment, same thing. Also, what if my mom gets the blame too, she's tried to protect me from him, but she's too weak. I need her, I don't want to go to the orphanage. Plus, what's going to happen to my brother? He needs therapy." I rambled on.
"Catherine, it will be okay. Your dad will be put away for a while, and probably get a restraining order against him. You can tell them your mom did nothing. For your brother, tell the social worker to test him, tell her what he's done, then we'll see what happens from there." She said with a hopeful smile.
"Yeah, you're right. I need to think about my case." I said.
"Why don't you take a break and enjoy life for a little while? You've had to deal with that your whole life. Have a little fun." She said with a giggle.
"Haha okay." I said moving over to her TV.
We turned on the flat screen and the Xbox 360 and played videogames for hours on her bed. When my eyes started to sting I put down the controller and laid back on her bed.
"Hey Sammy?" I asked, closing my eyes.
"Yes Cat?" She responded.
"I love you." I whispered as I fell asleep.
