(Why did it all change?)

"Hey Cat!" Connor said as he walked in to the living room where I sat.

"Hey." I said looking at the TV.

He sat down on the couch next to me and smiled. His white teeth shinning. His blonde hair was perfectly combed to the side, slightly spiked. His blue eyes staring at my face as if he was trying to scan it into memory. As he looked into my eyes, his face became slightly sympathetic.

"Is it okay if we talk about what happened to your family? I remember years ago when it was all okay." He said.

I've known the twins, him and Sammy, for about six years now. A lot can change in that amount of time.

"Um, sure. I guess. Where do you want me to start?" I asked him.

"What happened to your dad that made him go crazy?" He asked.

"I fell in love with my friend..." I said forcefully.

"Oh, that's nothing. Why would that make him into that monster?" He asked confused.

"My friend was a girl..." That's all I had to say, Connor finally got it.

~Flashback~

"Hey Cat!" She yelled from across the hall.

"Hey Nick!" I said back as she grabbed my hand.

"Are you okay? You seem a little down." She said starting into my eyes trying to find out what happened.

"Um, yeah... Just a lot on my mind." I said looking at her perfect features.

Her blonde hair was formed into perfect curls. She was wearing a flannel, a band t-shirt, and black skinny jeans like always. Her perfect smile quickly disappeared as she noticed something was going on.

She was now holding me to the lockers in the hallway as she looked me up and down for bruises. She knew how my brother was and anytime she found one single bruise, she would return the favor to him.

"I don't have any." I told her as she stood up straight.

"Well, what's wrong then?" She said annoyed.

I just shook my head, to afraid to tell her how I feel. Slowly a knot started to form in my throat and my stomach started to turn.

"Catherine Isabelle Clark! Tell me this instant." She demanded.

   "Or what?!" I teased.

She pulled me into a janitors closet. It was dark, but I could still make out her features.

"I'm your friend, and I care about you. If you don't tell me what's wrong, I can't help you." She said.

"I just, um, have a lot on my mind. That's all." It was part of the truth.

"Look, I know Travis broke up with you last month, but you've got to get over it." She said.

I just laughed. "That's not why."

Travis Jones was a jock. A complete jerk if you ask me. I'm not saying all athletes are like that, but he honestly was. He asked me out after school one day and decided to keep it a secret. I didn't think about it much at that time, but I went along with it. We didn't talk much unless I was helping him with his homework. Right after finals he dumped me because of his 'grades'. I'm one of the smartest kids in school, so that excuse was completely made up.

Since then, I have developed feelings for someone else that is very close to me, I can't get the idea off my mind. Mostly because I don't know if it is right to feel this way or not. I don't know how my world would change if I made that decision.
