Error walked through a portal into Outertale. He checked the 'verses code. 11:30 pm, perfect. He sat down and looked at the open space. This was his favorite place to go when he needs to get away from the overwhelming blinding white of the antivoid, so he came half an hour early just to enjoy himself before he met up with Ink.

He hadn't destroyed any AU's since their first encounter, he didn't know why, he just couldn't bring himself to it. Was it fear, empathy, regret, sympathy? No, he's felt fear and regret, this wasn't it. He didn't feel sympathy or empathy, that he was sure. He couldn't classify it. He stared into the starry night again. Maybe it was not to upset Ink before tonight, it's true monsters will be more open to negotiation if  you don't trigger them. That was probably it.

A portal was opened and Ink came through it, he saw Error and smiled.

"Hey! Glad you came buddy!"

"Yeah, yeah, what did you wanna talk about...?"

Ink sat next to Error, "I wanted to tell you why I protect the AU's."

"Tch, why? So I'd see 'the beauty in creation'?"

"Nope, so you can understand me. 'Know your enemy' right?"

This confused Error, "Why the hell would you want me to know you?"

Ink just shrugged. "Dunno, just feels like you should."

Error thought, "Well I'm listening."

"Our multiverse is surrounded around creation," Ink said.

Error scowled, '...of course it is, 'cause your just so special aren't you...' he thought to himself.

"And destruction." Ink smirked at Error's surprised expression.

"The creators create the AU's and the characters within them. I was created to keep these AU's safe from outside forces, if something or someone effects an AU in anyway, I gotta stop em."

"But if an AU is meant to burn to the ground and all it's cities to be leveled flat, I honestly couldn't care less."

Error was surprised again, he definitely didn't expect that. He thought he was some goody-two-shoes pacifist, not... whatever he is.

"I saw your creation, I saw the moment you came into existence, saw it all. You were meant to destroy. And I was ok with that, so I didn't get in the way."

"You could have stopped it? Then why didn't you? You would have an easier job." He was genuinely curious, he could just not understand.

"Yeah, I would. Sorry, I said I wouldn't get into beauty and that mushy stuff but I really do think every creation is beautiful. Creators put their heart and soul into their creations like a parent does to their children, and that's amazing. To be honest, you were the most beautiful creation I was able to witness...I don't know why, but I felt like I had met you before..."

Error blushed, embarrassed, confused, deep in thought, he had a lot of things going through his head. Much too many to name.

Ink saw Errors blush and laughed a bit, making him blush more. "Heh, sorry, getting off topic. Another reason is 'cause I don't have a thing against destruction. Like I said, if a 'verse is meant to die, I'll gladly let it go. My job would be harder but that only if the destruction isn't controlled. A lot like creation, destruction can't be loose to do whatever it wants, you would understand that best."

It was true, he did understand that much. His powers could do much more than what he allows, but the consequences... Error didn't want to think about it.

"What do you mean, 'a lot like creation'?"

"A lot of people don't think it, but creation needs to be controlled too. There can't be an infinite amount of creation. Even in the multiverse, creation is limited to a certain rate of which how fast things can be created and how fast things can be destroyed. Beings like the creators are limited to that rule, but not us. We can tip that balance off, there's a downside to being so powerful, Error, responsibility."

Error thought again, what he said was true. He didn't know how to react, he just sat there looking into the space above them.

"Point is, I'm not against you kid. I wanna work with you. Creation and destruction seem to be at odds, but in the end they both have to maintain balance, whether we like it or not. And I think if we work together it can be much easier than going at it alone."

Ink stood up and held his hand out for Error with a smile on his face. His eyes facing at him with a friendly look.

Error grabbed his hand and stood up, he had just done something insane.

He trusted someone, for the first time in his life.
