Death's Queen

Part 2

Frisk laughed as she ran in the warm sunshine, feeling the sun's friendly rays touch her shoulders. Her companions had long since fallen asleep under a tree, allowing their young mistress to wander around freely.

Flowers speckled the green grass, Frisk starting to pluck them into a bouquet. The earth was warm under her bare feet, filling with the growing life of her mother. Her hair was long and decorated with flowers.

Sans watched his bride-to-be, narrowing his eyes at the childhood cut of her clothes. She was no child as Toriel believed her to be. He smiled at the mental image of her in one of the regal gowns waiting for her, heavy with jewelry.

His queen.

He focused.

The lily was a blinding white, beautiful in every way. Frisk gasped in surprised delight, reaching out.

Then, the white slowly turned to black as the flower wilted. She gasped in surprise, stroking its dying petals.

"Sorry about that."

At the unfamiliar voice, Frisk looked up. A tall skeleton loomed over, tall and dark. His black cloak fluttered, even though there was no breeze. He didn't sound sorry. "Stuff like that just happens around me."

Frisk slowly rose to her feet. Toriel had told her about her opposite Sans, god of death. He was the reason why there was pain and separation. But, at the moment, his eyes were gentle, warm.

"W- What are you doing here? Death doesn't wander in Mother's garden very often."

"I wanted to meet Toriel's daughter."

Good, good, just talk to her Sans and she'll go with you willingly. 

"LADY FRISK!" 

Two attendants, a Loox and a Froggit, rushed over the grass to them. Sans growled, grabbing her wrist, the gentle warmth gone. Frisk looked up in fear. "I had hoped I could get you to come with me willingly, but time doesn't seem to be on my side."

Frisk screamed as they disappeared.
