At last the dreaded day finally approached to ruin me once and for all. And to all my convenience, my parents told me I have to hang out some place with this "Brendon" for a long time. There goes my plan of hiding from everyone behind my phone.

I swiftly bunched my dark locks into a ponytail before snapping the elastic around it and straightening out my t-shirt. I pulled on a pair of cut-off jean shorts just so I wouldn't look like the slob I am, because you gotta look at least a bit presentable.

By the time I finished my last touches and I was down the stairs my parents already stood there. I nervously smiled as they frowned at my tardiness. The drive was less than 5 minutes which I personally think would've been better if we walked since the weather was gorgeous.

As I bounded up to the Knight's door, a renewed energy and confidence built up in me. I puffed out my chest before ringing the doorbell. My jaw hit the floor when my eyes found its way to the brunette boy at the door's blue-gray orbs. Almost immediately all my pride drained away.

"Brendon," or so I assumed it was, smirked and opened his mouth to say something sly just as my parents came near. His grin immediately turned into a pleasant, joyful smile that transformed him into a whole different person.

"Hi Mrs. and Mr. Howards! It's a pleasure to meet you," 'Brendon' chirped.

"Hi!" My mom squealed while my dad smiled in acknowledgement.

"Oh hello there!" A short lady with light brown hair appeared from the door. "Ooh! Darling, you look just marvelous."

No reply. I turned around to my mom expecting her to answer to the compliment just to find everyone looking at me as if I was supposed to say something. My wandering hazel eyes made its way the lady, who I'm guessing is Mrs. Knight's striking green ones. Then the realization hit me that she was talking to me, not my mom.

"Th-thanks?" I managed to stutter out before Mrs. Knight could stare me down. "O-oh, I mean thank you."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Come on in," Mr. Knight popped from behind the door saving me from that treacherous moment.

The walls were painted a soft vanilla tone with blushed with a hint of pink. Fancy china pots stood on one side of the room as the other was filled with pictures of Brendon and his family. The frames were surrounded by golden trophies. A few were the cheap spray painted plastic ones but the majority were genuine.

Before I even got a seat on the fluffy velvet sofa, Mom randomly blurted out, "Katie why dont you ask Brendon to show you around?"

"Yes, perfect," Mrs. Knight added on. "Brendon, go show her the house!"

God damn it! I was just about to casually become invisible and just text Alexa the whole time. I guess they really don't want anyone 20 or younger there, do they?

"Sure, mom," Brendon replied with that same smirk and gave me a sign to follow him.

After we got up the stairs and out of the parents' earshot, Brendon burst out laughing. "Do you always make things awkward where ever you go?"

"What do you mean?" I made a face, knowing what he meant anyway.

He sighed and shook his head while pointing into a bathroom, "ok, I'll show you around. This is the bathroom."

"Really? I couldn't tell, the toilet really disguises it," I sarcastically stated. If he was going to call me 'awkward', I'm going to be salty about it.

"Well, then what do you wanna see?" Brendon chuckled back.

"I don't know, maybe something umm... interesting," I replied.
