"Mommy, Mommy!!!! Look I found a Easter egg!!!" 3 year old Ghost yelled. Running over to her mom holding up the purple egg proudly. "That's great baby, only nine left to find." Rose smiled lovingly at her daughter before calling out to her son. "Whisper how are you doing with finding your eggs?". A giggling 3 year old boy ran over stumbling a little before showing his mother four green eggs. "I found um, four!" He exclaimed proudly making his mother laugh. "Good job on your numbers honey, now you only have.." she looked at him knowingly. "Uh, fiv..six!" He yelled. Little Ghost hugged her brother proudly. "Good job Whiper!". Rose laughed at the poor boys nickname since Ghost had trouble with her S's for a while before finally getting them, unfortunately for Whisper she still calls him whiper as she's claimed it's his official nickname. "Come on Bunny we still got eggs to find!" Whisper yelled as he dragged his sister back out into the dirt back yard. Rose sighed looking at the shack they call home, even though she works doubles 4 times a week at the dinner they still can barley afford this dump. They'd be able to afford a nicer place if it wasn't for him. She looked up to see Ghost and Whisper picking up rocks and looking under them. Giggling at their silly behavior  she called out giving them a hint. "What did Dorothy have to do to go to OZ?" She questioned. "Follow the yellow brick road" they replied in sync before gasping and running to the path of rocks they painted yellow one summer day. Rose smiled at them before a crash sounded in the "house". Rose froze, he wasn't supposed to be home until late tonight. "Mama will be right back, keep looking for your eggs alright my lil munkchins" . Ghost watched as her mom walked into the house before returning to her eggs. She saw a pattern with her eggs when she found the 3rd egg so she quickly retried all 10 within 2 minutes. She helped her big brother find the rest of his, while he was picking up his last one Ghost had a funny feeling in her stomach. She looked over to the kitchen window to see him yelling at their mommy. She gasped when she saw him throw his 'special drink' at her. "Hey Whipper" she said looking away from the window as she made eye contact with her mother. "Ya bunny?" He looked up at her from his eggs. "Lets go play in the stream" she smiled grabbing his hand. "Wait we gotta tell mommy" he tried to turn around but she just tugged him back. "Don't worry I already got the thumbs up" she smiled looking back at the window. "Okie" he smiled running down to the stream. She held eye contact with her mother for a moment while trailing behind her brother before looking ahead and following her brother.

Four year old Ghost and Whisper posed for their mother making funny faces and being goofy while she snapped pictures of them. Ghost dressed as a bunny and Whisper dressed as a Peter Pan. They had a dance party with some Halloween cassette playing in the boom box that Rose has had since she was 5. Rose was dressed as Dorothy while Ghost's bunny was dressed as Toto. The 3 stayed up late dancing, eating candy, and telling scary stories. Ghost was still dancing with her mother while Whisper was passed out on the floor. It was one of the best nights they've ever had together until he came home. They quickly shut off the music and hid it in the floor board hiding place along with the candy and any rappers before Rose gently put Whisper in their room. Ghost quickly ran in and sat on their mattress. Their room was really meant to be a pantry but he said they should be grateful he's not making them sleep outside under the tree. Ghost will never forget that night as she watched her mothers horrified expression as he laughed and dragged her still dressed as Dorothy to his room. Her mother most of the time slept in the living room but not tonight and Ghost has learned to fear those nights.

Whisper,Ghost, and Rose all smile for the camera in front of the small tree they decorated in the forest by their house. They sit in the snow next to the small fire rose made. Rose gave Ghost and Whisper their presents feeling awful that she couldn't get them anything better. Whisper smiled as he opened his box to find home made sock puppets similar to the ones he really liked in the thrift store. He hugged his mom thanking her for the best present ever. She smiled at him before turning to watch Ghost open her gift, Ghost gasped pulling out her hand made bunny that she thought she lost forever when he threw him out. She ran to her mother and gave her the biggest hug she possibly could. "Thank you mommy" she sniffled. "Your welcome baby". "Me and Bunny got you this together" Whisper said as he put something in Roses hand. She gasped as she saw the necklace she'd admire in the thrift store window every time they walked by. It was 10 dollars so she never got it since it would be a waste of money and not to mention 10 dollars is a lot of money to them. She hugged both of her children crying. "We love you mommy" they said in sync. "I love you so much, you two are my world. Never forget that, no matter what." She said threw her tears. "We won't". Ghost then picked up a small box to give to Whisper, she smiled when she saw his eyes light up. "Cloths for my sock puppets! Thank you Bunny" he said while hugging her. He smiled before giving her his gift. She gasped as she held up the hand made bunny ears, she looked at her brother with tears in her eyes. "Mommy helped me with some things but I made them on my own because all bunnys deserve ears" he said before falling back into the snow from the force of Ghost launching herself at him to hug him. "I love you Whipper" she whispered. "Together" he whispered. "Forever" she finished for him.
The 2 children and mother stayed out til night fall dancing and singing Christmas songs. They cooked dinner over the fire before heading back home to go to bed. Ghost and Whisper fell asleep hugging each other thinking about how much fun they had today and how they hope every Christmas is as fun as this one. Little did they know tonight will be the last time they see their mother smile for a long time. Something happened that night that will never be discovered but Ghost knows it was his doing.
