[Chapter 18] McDonald's and Tears

Riley's POV:

"Riley, come on get out of bed" Maya shook me

"No, I'm not coming out of here for the rest of my life"

"Then I guess I'll have to go to McDonalds myself" she starts to walk away

"You wouldn't dare" I say peeking an eye out

"Try me" She smirks

"Fine! But I'm coming back here afterwards" I roll my eyes crossing my arms.

"So, are you going to tell me what happened. Riley, your a terrible liar and I know for a fact you didn't hurt yourself" Maya asks dipping her chicken nugget into ketchup.

"Lucas likes me" a smile appears on her face and suddenly I feel guilty. "But he has a girlfriend"

"What? Riley he kissed you. So he besicalky cheated on his girlfriend" She slams her hands on her table making her drop a chicken nugget and she frowns.

"Maya, Lucas has Bipolar Disorder" I sigh looking at my feet. "He was diagnosed with it since he was fifteen. Joe and Meghan couldn't tell their parents and they couldn't pay for the treatments alone. Lucas could die if he didn't get his treatment, but that changed once he met Savannah. Lucas found out that Savannah liked him and that his mom was a specialist in Bipolar Disorder, so he dated her. Soon after awhile of dating Lucas told Savannah and Savannah told her mom. Lucas and Savannah's mom made a deal that Lucas had to keep her daughter happy and she would give him the treatment for free. So that's why he has a girlfriend."

"My god, I-I didn't know" She has her hand covered over her mouth.

"Maya, it would be selfish of me to tell Lucas to break up with her and be with me. Lucas needs the treatment." I sigh

"Riley, but what about your happiness?"

"I'm willing to sacrifice my happiness for someone that I really care about" A shed a tear and Maya grabs my hand.

"Riley, you are a strong independent woman. Lucas might not be the guy for you, and I know there is someone out there for you. Someone that will make you happy, have children with you and grow old with you." She frowns

Yes, that guy is Lucas Friar.

I sigh taking a bite from my Quarter Pounder. "Uh oh" Maya immediately looks behind me and her eyes widen. I slowly start to turn my head around but she grabs it making me look into her eyes "Riley, do you trust me?"

"Of course, I will always trust you" I smile slightly

"Then don't turn around"

"Okay I won't" I look forward but I couldn't resist. I look behind me and immediately make eye contact with Lucas. I turn back around and Maya's eye hold sadness.

Lucas was in line with Savannah ready to order. They were holding hands and she was snuggle up close to him. He was wearing a plain white T-shirt, some denim Jeans and Nike shoes. She kept smiling to him and immediately when she saw me she reached over a planted her lips against his. Anger and sadness rose up at the same time inside of me. I clenched my jaw and ran out of McDonald's.

Tears immediately started falling from my eyes and I just ran to wherever my legs could take me.

Lucas's POV:

After I broke the kiss that Savannah had given me I noticed Riley running out and immediately guilt ran through me. I clenched my jaw and looked at Savannah.

"Why did you do that" I asked annoyed

"Your my boyfriend, I can kiss you whenever I want" She rolls her eyes and flips her hair hitting me in the face with it. I can't get her mad, tomorrow I get the 1 year package treatment. It comes with 24 bottles of pills that will last me 2 years. I have to break up with Savannah. I can't pretend to be happy with someone when I'm not. But for now...

"Sorry, your right" I force a smile on my face and plant a kiss on her lips. She immediately smiles and hugs me. This felt so wrong...I love you Riley...
