I wake up to the sound of a knock on my door before my doctor comes in. I notice that in his hand is a clipboard with papers on it most likely my discharge papers.

"Good morning Major Shepard, I can see your awake. " He says as he walks over to the chair that sits by my bed the same one that my ex sat in two weeks ago to tell me that she's leaving me because 'Ive changed.. and she's found somebody new that has loved her while I was gone.'

"Yea what of it, I shouldn't be Lieutenant." I say looking out the window on the opposite wall of the room.

"Well we could argue that but its not worth the breath I would be waisting, you're being transferred to Four Cards Rehabilitation Center. Its the last place that will take you and your not being released from the Marines until either your contract is up or your new trainer says so." He says and my head snaps back to face him when I hear the word transfer.

"Fine." I mumble as the papers are handed to me to sign, knowing I can coheres this new trainer into signing me off.

I pack what little stuff I have during my remaining hour before transport and I think about everything that has gone wrong in the last six months.

'All I can hear is the sound of mortar shells going off as the night sky is lit up by gunfire and large firey explosions. I quickly jump out of my rack and throw on my Mar-pads and load my pistol, before joining the fight. I run out of the barracks and towards the armory. I make it there just in time grabbing what I can and leaving. Just as I'm leaving the sound of an explosion comes from my right the explosion knocking me off my feet as I go flying into the side of a Jeep. I can hear the sound of my ribs breaking as I struggle to breath. I get up slowly to looking around me for a way out and see a wall of fire to my left so I head right.

The sound of gun fire more heavy here. I lean against a brick wall trying to get my bearings the ringing in my ears is intense. I look over to see my best friend firing off rounds like a mad man trying to protect the hospital.

I make my way over there until I nearly scream in pain as I feel a round go straight through my leg. I fall to the ground behind a wall. I reach into my pocket with my medical supplies and grab gauze and a wrap and wrap it as well as I can. Before getting up again and trying to make it to Adam. When I finally reach I'm I lean against the wall that we are using to protect us and I look up at him.

"Its about time you got here you son of a bitch. Your always late to the party." He says with a lough until he sees my leg. "Shit man thats gotta hurt. You should take a turn with the long gun it will help ignore the pain." He says as I reach up and take his spot shooting as he makes sure that my rounds come in straight. I see out the corner of my eye as he takes out the picture of his wife and kids.

"You will make it home man." I say through a strained voice.

"You don't know that man. If I don't tell my family I loved them." He says as we continue to lay down fire. Out of no where I see Adam push me as hard as he could as a mortar shell goes off right were we where hiding. I scream in pain as it feels as if I am on fire in every part of my body. The pain excruciating and I all I can hear is the sound of gun fire and screams as someone grabs me under the arms and drags me behind another wall as the world goes dark.

I come out of my trance like state when a nurse comes and knocks on the door. I grab my back as she wheels in a wheelchair. I look at it with distain but get into it anyways as I am handed a new box by my doctor.

"What is this?" I ask the lieutenant as I start to open it.

"A gift from the tax payers." He says as I open it to find a brand new state of the arc prosthetic leg. "You can't use it until your new trainer says so. Other wise you could end up hurting yourself."
