I wake up with a pain in my neck but I know why as I look at the way I fell asleep on my couch. I look at my watch and notice its five in the morning. I groan and look for my coffee but instantly regret it as the cold bitter liquid hits my mouth. I swallow it despite its taste and I get up and walk to the bathroom in my office and look at myself in the mirror.
My blonde hair is messy and greasy looking, my makeup from yesterday is smudged and I have raccoon eyes from crying as if that wasn't enough my clothing has a coffee stains and tear stains. To sum it up, I look like shit.
I walk to my cabinet and grab a pair of athletic clothes and I walk to the bathroom hopping in the already running hot shower. As I rinse away the evidence of a sleepless night and a tear stained face. When I'm done I get out and get dressed being careful to make sure that I look as though I went home last night.
I dry my hair and throw it into a high pony tail and throw on some light makeup to hide the bags under my eyes from sleepless teary nights. I leave the bathroom and head to my desk grabbing my coffee cup. I leave my office heading for the break room as I clock in for today. I brew a fresh pot of coffee as I wash out the remains from my cup. I smile when the machine pings and I fill my cup with the rich black liquid.
I hear a ping from my phone and notice its Eric.
1 Message: Please Melody lets fix this.
I ignore it and put my phone away. I down my coffee and re fill it before leaving the break room and heading back to my office to look over the charts from Troy's old centers so I can determine what to start with.
I read over previous doctors notes and determine that I have to test him again because nothing that any of them said makes any sense to me. Look over at the security cameras to see no movement before I get up deciding that I'm going to wake him up.
I get out of my chair and head to his room knocking on the door before opening it myself to reveal a sleeping Troy. Myers wander around the room until they rest on him, and my eyes must look as if they are going to pop out of their sockets as I look at the sleeping form of this man. My eyes raking over his sculptured body.
'He defiantly doesn't need muscle mass.' I think to myself as my eyes travel down the muscles of his broad shoulders and then down his back until the blanket covers the rest of his body. I notice the web of scares all over his back and my breath hitches as I think he's waking but he just turns allowing my eyes to see his abdominal muscles as they look all over him assessing the muscle and the scares.
I snap out of it and walkover to his sink and fill a cup with water and grab the meds he needs to take. I walk over to him and place my hand on his shoulder to wake him. He jumps at my slightest touch grabbing my hand to pin me as I spill the contents of the cup onto the floor.
"What the fuck?..... Dr. Ace?" He says letting me go.
"Yep, your going to have to get use to me waking you up Major." I say moving off of him and grabbing couple of paper towels and cleaning up the mess on the floor.
"No I don't." He says laying back down as I throw the paper towels away. and I get a new cup and fill it with water.
"Ya got two options Major either you get off your ass and take your meds and train. Or I throw this water on you force the meds down your throat and then forcibly make our ass train." I say the most serious face I can muster on as I raise my eye brow at him.
"Im getting up." He says as he takes the water and pills from my outreached hand.
"Im leaving so you can get dressed. Meet me in my office and we will go get breakfast before we go train." I say as he sits up in the bed the blanket falling off in what I believe to have been a purposeful move as it reveals him in just his boxers. I spin around so I'm not facing him as a chuckle escapes his lips.
"And if I need help getting dressed?" He asks his voice filled with laughter.
I spin back around my head tilted up so I can only see his face and chest. "Then I will page one of the guys to come help you change." I say before turning around again and leaving the room, closing the door behind me.
I walk to my office shaking my head at his antics. 'I swear this man is bi-polar one minute we are fighting and the next he's being.....' ERRRRGGGGG. I think to myself before opening and closing my office door. I walk over to my desk and grab my tablet going over my schedule for the day and all planned events. I answer some emails and manage go get some paperwork done before he pushes my door open without knocking.
"Excuse me? Weren't you ever taught to knock?" I say as I grab my coffee cup and down the rest of the heavenly liquid.
"Yep, but only for my superiors." He says with a smirk. I throw him glare before standing up.
"Lets go, I am enjoying the idea of kicking your ass right now." I say as I walk out the door and he follows me while trying to catch up. "How much walking on just the one leg have you attempted to do?" I ask this time with 'my regular this means business tone'.
"Not much all the other doctors wanted to watch my back first." He says as we reach the hall way to the elevator. I grab the back of his wheelchair and I grab a crutch sitting in the closet next to us. I extend it for him and hand it to him.
"Walk to the elevator." I say.
"I can't make it that far on one foot. " He says looking at me as if Im crazy, and well I just might be. But my job is to test the limits.
"Oh really so I should send your fancy new prosthetic back because you'd rather be in the wheelchair?" I ask and he gets up from the chair taking the crutch from me and he pushes forward as I follow behind him with his chair.
I can see the tensing of all his muscles as he attempts to work what hasn't been worked in a very long time. I follow behind him as the space between us and the elevator closes slowly but surely. We finally make it to the elevator and he hits the button and stands there until the door opens and he hobbles inside and I follow after him a smirk on my face.
I hear my phone ping and I pull it out to look at it.
2 New Messages: Melody answer your goddamn phone you know all of this was an accident. You know I loved....
It read before the rest of the message was cut off. I throw my phone back in my pocket as the doors open and I see Troy staring at me. "What?" I ask before walking out of the elevator and onto the training floor. He looks around in shock as he sees how massive our training room is. I look over at him and grin.
"Let the ass kicking commence." I say laughing.
