in which taehyung is a high school student
-
he was watching her; he always has been. taehyung always finds himself wanting to step forward and talk to her but his body didn't seem to listen to his mind and heart. she caught his stare and it wasn't the first time. her cold stare did not faze him because he understood why, or more accurately, who made her this way. he gripped onto the shot glass tightly as soon as he saw the man walk up to her, arm snaking around her waist almost naturally. she greeted him with a light smile but taehyung could see she didn't mean it. he knew her all too well.

"oppa!" he heard someone call cheerfully by his side. he fumbled to grab his phone and pause the song he was blasting through his earpiece. as soon as he took his earpieces off, he eventually broke into a grin as soon as he saw who it was.

"vick?" taehyung turned to face her. the sunlight from the windows of the classroom made her seem as if she was glowing. she looks like an angel. "what are you doing here?"

"i came to see you." she sat down on the empty seat next to him but she had her body in a position such that the both of them were facing each other and smiled. taehyung's heart fluttered. he loves her smile, for it shone the brightest amongst everything else that was dark in his life; it made him feel a certain type of warmth he never thought he could feel again.

"why?" taehyung cocked his head to the side a little. he was trying to hide his contentment when he heard that she specially came to see him and possibly spend time with him. it had been quite a while since they had actually hung out since she had been busy with her own life after they have grown apart as they grew older but he had never forgotten her and would keep a watchful eye on his dongsaeng.

she mimicked his action and replied cheerfully, "because i don't have any classes until late afternoon."

"you could spend time with your other friends," taehyung teased. for a split second, he regretted saying that lest she actually leaves him and joins her friends whom he disapproves of and despise. they were such a rowdy bunch that only has bad things to say, especially jimin. he didn't understand how she ever got close to them but he had never brought himself to ask her about it unless she mentioned them. come to think of it, if they were to have a conversation, she hardly brings them up and only talks about a couple of her other close friends.

"well, i could..." she trailed off. her expression suddenly became gloomy as her head turned towards the door. then, she immediately turned back with a wide smile on her face. "but i saw you all alone in here so i thought why not join you?"

"join me?" taehyung scoffed. "more like drowning yourself in awkward silence and boring conversations."

his attention went back to the book he was reading. he needed to study for a literature test which was coming in a couple of days but somehow, a voice within him was telling him to abandon all hope on it since he was already failing the class and just hang out with vick. how often will you get this opportunity?

"conversations with you aren't boring. don't bring yourself down like that." vick pouted. "plus i thought we could go to the arcade we used to go when we were young."

taehyung let out a loud gasp. he had his mouth wide open and his hand on his chest. "without our parents?"

vick rolled her eyes. "do you want to go or not, taehyung oppa?"

taehyung fiddled with the page he had been stuck on for a couple of minutes and glanced at her. her eyes glistened with anticipation and hope. he didn't want to dull the only sunshine he had in his life and it could be another chance for him to get back into her life.

taehyung groaned, giving in to her sweet smile. "fine..."

she cheered, jumping up from the seat and helped taehyung pack his things. she carried his bag and skipped before him while he tagged along behind her, grinning uncontrollably. she turned to make sure he was still behind her, with a smile as bright as the sun.
