All around me, the other magical girls began to scream. They yelled at Monokyu, their voices jumbling together in one big pot of noise. I covered my ears with my hands and growled in irritation. What a bunch of sissies! This whole business of killing each other just because we couldn't leave seemed so unreal. Why would magical girls kill other magical girls? Sure, maybe for territory to get more grief seeds, but none of that applied here. There really wasn't a point in losing your cool like that.
"ENOUGH!" Homura suddenly roared, her voice echoing in the large room. One by one, our fellow classmates fell silent. Some of them looked terrified, but some managed to keep their wits about them. A few held an emotionless mask on their faces; Ruler and Minou had the nerve to smile creepily at each other.
"Enough," Homura repeated, softer this time. "Panicking will do us no good." She lowered her head to look at the disc on her arm; a heartbeat later, she was suddenly onstage, one hand wrapped around Monokyu's throat. She held him up at a distance, as if he were some kind of poisonous snake. "You. Explain yourself, right now."
"Gladly." Monokyu swished his tail and made a soft purring noise. "But first, put me down! Acts of violence against the headmaster are forbidden ya know!"
Homura dropped the cat on the stage unceremoniously. "How would I have known that? You have not even told us what the rules are."
"I was about to," Monokyu snapped. "Then you yanked me into the air before I could!"
"That is because you were taking too long." Homura flipped her hair and leapt off the stage, landing gracefully on two feet. She calmly walked back into the crowd, taking a place beside Madoka.
"Well, isn't someone an impatient little murderer-to-be?" Monokyu smirked. "Now. Allow me to explain the rules of this killing game! First of all, 'nighttime' begins at 10:00 P.M. Ya don't have to stay in yer dorms, but please note that some areas are off-limits during this time. Oh! And if you sleep anywhere other than your dorm, it will be treated as sleeping in class, which means I get to punish you!"
"Er... Like a detention?" Tsubame tilted her head to the side. "Is there even a detention room here?"
"Not detention!" Monokyu leaned forward and dug his claws into the carpet covering the stage. "No, I mean punish as in execution! Brutal bloody murder!"
"What the hell?! You can't kill somebody for passin' out!" I gritted my teeth together and glared at the cat as fiercely as I could. "That's just plain unfair!"
